Delicious! The food and drink options were creative, upscale, and fresh. Also, the prices were great for groups with variety.... Prices range from $15-40 for most meals so there’s no pressure. (Steak pictured, medium) Read more

Fantastic. Octopus, fish crudo, beef shin, blood something cannoli, cocktails. Small menu but won’t disappoint if not a picky... eater. Downstairs seating way better ambience (watching the kitchen flames) than boring upstairs tables. Call off the big bonebeef shin was amazing for any meat lover. Next is the pig head! Read more

The dish from Ember & Ash centered around wood burning stove and smoking ingredients from land and sea. We could even see the... wood burning stove from the first floor dining area, which was fun. Seeing images of the restaurant interior, I was a littleworried if the space was going to be little too tight, but it wasn't at all. Although the restaurant was fairly busy, allseatings were comfortably placed. I would recommend coming here with larger group like four to six, as their main entrees wereimpressively large family styles. In their menu, it almost didn't seem to have a clear boundary between appetizers and entrees;Instead, portions for the first half were much smaller, which would be suitable to share when you were dining in for two. Wewere just two of us, so we didn't try fun-sounding-dish like "Pig's Head" and "Whole Fried Fish", but they all looked reallyexciting. Amongst smaller plates we tried, "Octopus" was our big hit with its unique taste with the twist from turnips."Mussels" were also interesting and worth trying. Lastly, I loved less sweet and slightly more bready "Basque Style Cheesecake"with strawberry syrup-- It reminded me of cheesecakes I used to eat. Read more

Stopped in for dinner while in the city for a concert. What a fun and unique experience! Everything in the restaurant from food... to cocktails is at least touched by the wood stove. We had cocktails (charcoal smoked old fashioned), Octopus, a beef shin, andcharcoal cooked potatoes with spicy chili aoli. Everything was delicious! The service was excellent as well. Definitely put thisplace on your list! Read more

I love the vibe here. It’s cozy and the bartenders and servers are all very nice and attentive. You must try the pickled beet... martini- it’s my favorite! I stop by the bar sometimes when I’m on Passyunk just to have it. Also cannot pass up on theiroysters and trout crudo. Amazing. Read more

Fantastic experience. The restaurant feels warm/homey, and so does the food from their wood fired oven, even though they elevate... classic dishes, from their oysters, to the octopus, to the cauliflower, to their duck cassoulet. But the pork mousse was out ofthis world. And get the cannoli. Read more

As of Sept 5th, 2021, this is my favorite Philly restaurant. “Peasant food” is the concept, which means they make awesome... tasty food with ingredients not too commonly used/consumed by the mainstream public (liver, tongue, skate, lamb, etc).Everything tastes good and the presentation of the food is top class. AND, the staff is super friendly. Final verdict: 10 out of5 stars. Read more
