Reviews for More Sugar in Philadelphia, PA

Disappointed with my 1st visit on food, service, and décor. While staying in Philly, I found this place on google map. It has... an interesting name that serves dinner and desserts, above four-star rating, and beautiful online pictures. First, I couldn'tunderstand why one side of the restaurant windows are boarded, which is where I sat. Next, I am not sure it is service standardfor a server to drop water jar and cup on table but not pouring for the customer. The fancy drink names heightened myexpectation but at the end it is just an over-priced ice-coffee w/o milk and sugar. The mushroom soup served in a wooden cup isnice - I liked the cup design. The fish sandwich with fries and salad tasted the same as MacDonald's fish fillet. The salad isdecent, the fries are dry, but I take the MacDonald's fries over it, and I had a hard time to bite on the compressed fishsandwich which I didn't even finish it. After that, I didn't want to order the desserts. Everything seemed to go wrong in thisplace. It needs a lot of fixings in order to live up to its name and to complete in such a competitive location. I hope theylearn and fix these issues. Read more

Staff and ambiance was nice. We ordered avocado toast, chicken and waffles, and 2 espresso drinks. The espresso drinks were made... on a cheap non-commercial home espresso machine, so not worth $5 at all. The avocado toast was made on cheap thin bread thatwasn’t toasted, and if it was, it was sitting out for so long that it got cold and soggy. The avocado was a very thin layer ofunseasoned avocado, just plain avocado. I would understand if the menu was cheap but paying $13 for this avocado toast wasunreasonable. The bacon was the most undercooked I’ve ever eaten, and I like my bacon soft and more on the undercooked side. The chicken and waffles were inedible. Chicken and waffles are always supposed served as a savory and sweet dish and this wasjust savory with no maple syrup to balance out the saltiness and only served with mayo and some other salty sauce. Just stick tothe classic. Overall I hope they bring their brunch dishes to restaurant quality to justify the price. Read more

Celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday, it’s our first time here. We really like the food and atmosphere. We ordered a salmon... entree and pepper beef spaghetti. To be honest we didn’t expect the meal was the good, since it looks like a dessert storefrom the outside. But it turns out that the food were amazing, and the owner was really nice to us and wish her a happy birthdayby a crème brûlée. Overall is a nice little restaurant in downtown Philly. Definitely will return soon. One thing I do wantto mentioned is that they only accept cash, which is a bit inconvenient. It’s understandable since the greedy banks and creditcards companies charge the credit card mechanic set up fees too high to the stores. More sugar is considerate to provide a smallatm in the back to withdraw. Read more

We came here for a light dinner and the food was delicious. I took the seared tuna with rice and it came with a variety of... harmoniously-cooked vegetables and a delicate teriyaki-like sauce. The price of 14.95 for such a quality is a bargain. The placeis clean, nicely decorated and the people are really kind. I highly recommend it. Let me end on a negative note. The preparationtook an abnormally long time: we were the only two customers, so it is hard to understand why it took so long. Furthermore, wewere not served at the same time but at a couple of minutes of interval, which again is not normal. That said, be patient, thefood is worth the wait Read more
