The food here is awesome. The cuisine is Korean comfort food. I had the kimche burger and south gate fries. The burger was... perfectly cooked and was amazing! The south gate fries were awesome and should not be missed. I had mentioned to our server thatI wanted to try the burger but I wanted to come back for the Korean fried chicken. After our meal our server brought out 2pieces of fried chicken wings for us to try. This may have been the best chicken wings I have ever had. I am not beinghyperbolic it was awesome. They also have really cool cocktails. I would suggest you come during their happy hour for their foodand drink specials. Read more

This place didn’t disappoint. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, tasty and well seasoned. I had... the Korean version of a whiskey sour and it was good. If you’re in or visiting Philly, I would highly recommend checking thisplace out. Read more

Great service. The bibimbap ended up being too spicy for my mother, but the staff made her a new one with a sweet sauce at no... charge. Cocktails are also excellent. Will be going back often. Read more

Very cool spot, located in a nice neighborhood. Food was a new fun twist and was absolutely delicious. The pork dumplings were... very flavorful, and the fries chicken was really special. The blend of seasoning was really delicious and something I'd eatagain for sure. Service was great too. Read more

I don’t know if the chef was having a bad day but the food was very disappointing. We ordered the Southgate fries which taste... good for the first few bites, but after you’ve had some, the salt kicks in making it difficult to eat them without gulpingdown a ton of water. The vegetable steamed dumplings or mandu had an unpleasant sharp taste and smell to them. The tofu andmushroom bao buns were okay (I liked the tofu one better) but the tofu tacos were our worst dish of the night. The tacos couldhave been so much better if only they marinated the tofu in some gochujang but instead they served us bland tofu (seasonedsparingly with salt and pepper) topped with copious amounts of unseasoned coleslaw and salsa verde (how is this even Korean). Iam giving two stars because the servers were really nice and attentive but with all the good things that we heard about thefood, we were let down by our overall experience. Read more

This place is special. On a nice corner in Philly and it has one of the top 2 burgers in the city. Right there with Rex. The... kimchi burger was so damn good and it was not spicy at all. The kimchi just added flavor. Had the pork bao buns as well whichwere great. My friends and the ramen and bimpap bowl. They have a pretty good happy hour special and delicious Sapporo on tap.Definitely try it out. Read more

I went to Southgate for the first time for a first date back in 2019. Three years later and the food is just as delicious and... consistent as it was my first time there. Most recently, I got the Seoul Chicken sandwich and a Southgate citywide. The bao bunsand banchan are also phenomenal. It was an excellent start to a great night out celebrating a friend's birthday! Their prices we reasonable and their service was fast. A popular place for locals and students alike!Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy Korean dishes! Read more
