Food and service was excellent with an eclectic menu and generous portions. I had the duck which was top notch and the sea bass... that my partner had was great. SoMa Downtown Grill & Café, a charming eatery that specializes in American cuisine with a twist, is located in Phillipsburg,... NJ. The address is 62 S. Main Street, hence the name SoMa, which stands for South Main. SoMa's decor is simple yet elegantenough to match the charm of its owner, Carol who cooked the food that we ordered to perfection! I ordered the Bistro Steak,grilled to a perfect medium rare, was smothered with peppers and onions, and glazed with Korean BBQ sauce. I added a bakedpotato as a side dish and a salad with Ranch dressing as a starter. My lunch date ordered the mouthwatering Mushroom SwissBurger, which is the latest addition to their impressive menu. Carol's son Eddie, who was our server and also theestablishment's bartender extraordinaire, was very pleasant, professional and polite. He made sure that everything was great,from the food and drinks we ordered to the lively music that played as we enjoyed our food. Carol was even nice enough to showus the outdoor bistro in the back, even though it's already closed during the colder months. Their outside dining area, which islarge and can accommodate a nice-sized party, has an awesome view of the Delaware river, and the train tracks that ran justoutside of their establishment, all for the enjoyment of their customers while they dined in the summer months. All in all, ourdining experience at SoMa exceeded our expectations, especially after meeting and talking to the owners of this fineestablishment who gave us their personal touch in excellent customer service! This is the BEST Italian/Americana fusion you’re gonna find in the heart of Simsbury, actually I’d be bold enough to say it,... in the VALLEY! So good. If you live nearby or just passing through, you owe it to yourself to come to Soma. Great staff as well,we were seated in a matter of minutes! This is on a Friday night folks. So good. Everything from the pan seared scallopsappetizer down to the decadent strawberry cheesecake :) I’m going to have to run a few miles tonight but all worth it!!! (PS,the lobster ravioli will melt in your mouth and the PO boy fried shrimp sandwich is one of the best I’ve had in the northeast)I’d rate 6/5 if I could. Definitely a repeat customer in the making :) Even the owner was nice enough to stop what he wasdoing to come check on us 20-somethings. That says a lot about his character. We will be back for more! The quality of food and portion size is well worth the price. A good variety of food on the menu and the staff is friendly.... Really nice outdoor seating great for a nice night out. Make a reservation in advance as it is quite popular for good reason.Would come back for sure. Read more
My fiance and I came for a Thursday date night. Very prompt hostess who showed us to our table and an attentive waitor who... brought us our drinks and meals. A few other staff members also checked in on us throughout our meal. We ordered the calamarifor qn appetizers and it was amazing. Cocktails were perfectly made and reasonably priced. They had specials on bottles of winewhich we also purchased. Unfortunately the filet we ordered was not cooked to our liking but we were able to cook it a littlemore. I ordered the potato gnocchi with vegetables and sausage. Unfortunately the gnocchi was battered and fried and also tastedstale. Definitely a disappointment. Read more
