Make sure you have a reservation before you go here, else you can expect a 1-2 hour wait depending on the time/day you get... there! Bar is first come first serve. Restaurant is split into two sections. One area is smaller (about 10 tables) and possiblyfor a quieter atmosphere. Second area has a bar and live music, much larger space. Ordered the rib eye medium rare, came exactlyas ordered. It was delicious. My wife ordered the sirloin steak medium and shrimp. Her steak came out more medium rare in thecenter. Fresh garlic bread and two salads came prior to the food. Food itself comes with giant baked potatoes and onion rings.Big portions. Food with two sodas came to roughly ~ $115 prior to tip. We're definitely going back! Read more

Have been going to Steak & Stein for the past 40 years of my life. I’ve search everywhere we travel at high end restaurants... and they cannot come close to Steak & Stein golden menu. Relaxing atmosphere & ambience and service that can’t be beat Enjoythe large circular fireplace in the waiting area as all of their drinks are perfect. We came to celebrate special dates when inmy 20’s but in my 30’s & on I could afford to go anytime I liked and up to my 60’s. Cannot tell you if it's the crispcroutons filled salads, Cannot be beaten cheese bread that we argue over (yet they refill the basket often)and the best maindishes ever. I don't even bother to order scallops at other places as I've searched for year's to find any place to top Steak &Stein but they can't beat these scallops. I am confident you will enjoy the same. Enjoy. Read more

First things first, the cocktails. Very reasonably priced and tasty. The food was in huge portions and just kept coming. The... prices are great for the food that is served. The server does most of the work table side. All meat is flambéed before servingand baked potatoes are prepared to your liking. I love this place, even though I'm a vegetarian. There is more than enough foodand choices. I can't wait to come back. Read more

When the "Signature house steak" is a burger patty... Then you know the steak is going to be really bad. Yes, you read that... right. The signature house steak which was recommended by the waitress, was ground beef.. It wasn't a real steak it was a burgerpatty made with ground beef... Wait but that is not the worst part of all, they served me raw ground beef... I asked for mediumrare thinking it was a juicy steak and I got a raw burger patty with raw meat, which should never ever ever ever be served andyes I did get stomach sick to no ones surprise. Yes the steak was bland, no seasoning not even pepper, bad, and I was 100%cheated and scammed by this steak house. I only ate 1/4 of the burger patty because it tasted like old meat and cheap groundbeef, I do not recommend If you like to have good steak this is not the place, try another steak house. This will disappointyou and charge you more than you would like for the quality of the steak. The setting was great, dim lights, service was okay. One of the only things if not the best thing was the ambient music, it was noticble but not over powering where you need to talkloud to hear the person across from you. I had reservations, but still had to wait another further 10 minutes to be seatedalthough the places was pretty empty. It is understandable. Read more

It was my first time here, but my friends go here on a regular. It's a great place to dine while listening/ watching live... music. We love who played tonight, but unfortunately we didn't get his name. He played a variety of music really well. As forthe food, the salmon and the steak was delicious. I think the food is slightly overpriced compared to other places I've tried,in my opinion. The onion rings & garlic toast that was included in our entrée was very delicious. We especially liked thesour cream and chive salad dressing as well. As for the service, given that you're paying an average of $45 per person, youkinda expect the basics to be covered. It would be nice if they refilled or asked if we needed more water. We didn't know ifthey served deserts since we weren't offered any. Other than that, it was a nice experience. Read more

This place is a Los Angeles institution! The old style decor brings such a sense of old charm in a city that’s filled with... changing menus. I’m guessing the items on these menus have been here for decades! The food portions are huge!!! They serveprime rib only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Luckily we ate there on a Sunday! I started off with a half liter of housered wine. (You get your choice of a glass, half liter, or full liter.) The meals include salad with your choice of dressing(blue cheese, ranch or French), the infamous cheese toast, red cabbage, and baked potato with all the toppings (butter, sourcream, melted cheese and chives). My prime rib came with creamed spinach, and some condiments of creamy horse radish and Au jus.My partner ordered the steak and shrimp combo, where you could order the shrimp grilled or fried. We celebrated my birthday soour server came out with a big glass of ice cream with a candle on top, and the dessert was on the house! Whenever I think of aspecial dinner, this place is always top of my list! Read more

Outstanding food and incredible service from a local landmark. I grew up on Clearman's cheese bread, but while 39 years is far... too long a journey to finally land S&S's signature Filet Mignon on my plate, it was worth every bit of the wait. I don't reallyneed to say much more, given the photos. Our waiter, Sam, left nothing to be desired, and the bartender was also quite generousin preparing my Jack & Coke. Steak & Stein is now on my "every time I fly back home" list. Read more
