For a celebratory brunch we went to Pine Grove Hall and we couldn’t have selected a better place. The flavors and presentation... were delightful and creative, a real treat to gustatory and visual senses. I also like the classic American bar setup this placehas, the ambiance definitely enriches the whole dining experience. We ordered Shrimp and grits, Breakfast empanadas, andBurrata Toast (Vegetarian). The coffee is sourced from Café Lemont which is another Happy Valley gem. I tried pomegranateSangria. Never knew this was a restaurant as I drove by this location for many years. September of 2022 I came here for dinner and my oh... my is this place great. I hear they did a massive remodel and it shows. This place is oozing with ambiance. Cocktails were topnotch and the food was great. Unique dishes you won’t find anywhere else. Had an excellent dinner on the patio. The setting and service are relaxed and the menu and cocktails are unique. All the dishes... were good. Some came together really well like the squid ink pasta and smokey eggplant. Others seemed like tasty components thatdidn't necessarily come together, particularly the desserts. My trout was excellent with a lovely sauce. But the dish could haveused an additional component beyond green beans and cherry tomatoes. The cocktails were all excellent. Overall, this is a greatand totally unique restaurant for the area. We will definitely be back! Read more
As a graduate student, this is my FAVORITE place to go for a drink and a meal in State College. Their menu is great and is never... stagnate, and the atmosphere and staff are wonderful. It’s also far enough away from downtown that there aren’t crowds ofstudents, so it feels like a more authentic experience. Amazing experience! The vibe of this restaurant is spectacular. I loved sitting in the main dining area with the bar. The drinks... were excellent; the wine pours were generous and the cocktails had a good amount of alcohol in them. The food was very good. Iwas slightly underwhelmed by the dessert, but not enough to take a star away. The live music they had was excellent as well. Youcould just go for a drink and it would be reasonable, or you could easily spend over $100/person for a full meal with multipledrinks. Read more
AMAZING DRINKS from brilliant bartenders! Beautiful atmosphere, and the food is unique, a fine dinning experience. My husband... and I have been there at least five times over the past few month and have noticed a huge improvement in the flavor/texturecombination of the entrees. The chef is clearly trying out different ideas and concepts, being creative, we love it! They alsohave variety of live music on certain days, which was a nice addition to the experience. We love Pine Grove Hall. The music is great, and not by accident. The owners are musicians in one of the best and most popular... bands in the region, so, as might be expected, the sound system is awesome, and the sound is tweaked with skill during the showswhich feature quality local artists as well as traveling professionals. The food never disappoints, and is often an excellentseries of small plates, and the bar features knowledgeable tenders and creative cocktail suggestions. The building itself is antasteful restoration of a classic tavern, with a carefully refurbished wooden bar and copper topped tables made by a fine localartist. This place checks all of our boxes. Great food? Check. Great music? Yep. Great vibe? You bet. Friendly staff andowners? Absolutely. We’re looking forward to our next visit! Read more
