Super foodie here - one of the best meals I've had in years. Drove 2 hours from the culinary wasteland that is southern ct and... was not disappointed. Everything about this place was absolutely top notch. I don't want to eat anything else now. Read more

An incredible evening all the way through; cocktails in the snug fireside nook with serve-yourself peanuts in the shell,... followed by a wonderful meal in the dining room which has the perfect level of ambiance; a long airy room flanked by largewindows and heavy wood accents together is simultaneously intimate, elegant and rustic. The service was perfect - great wine andfood recommendations, a really decent wine list with some lesser known French and Italian varietals were the perfect combinationto the wood fired meats. The horseradish cream with the steak was a highlight as was the riff on raspberry ripple ice cream -using fig instead. The perfect autumnal dinner. Read more

An experience to remember, from the house pineapple glazed sliced ham and Gouda to the roasted peaches with whey caramel. Local... meets delicious in pure, rustic splendor. Read more

Stissing House was all around pretty good. Service was excellent. Our waitress (Lila) was super. She made sure we understood how... the menu was organized. Which in my opinion was confusing. I would suggest headers above the sections so you can more easilyunderstand appetizers from small plates and entrees. We had some smoked ham as an appetizer served with two slices of whilegrain bread. My wife chose a grilled Tuna salad for her main. It really was a grilled tuna steak with some greens laced aroundit from the small plates. I chose the grilled pork chop with turnips and cannellini beans. Both entrees were very tasty and wewould order again. For dessert, we chose a peach/raspberry and vanilla ice cream dish. It was very nice also. Lastly, ourtotal time in the restaurant was good. We had a 7:45p reservation. Our dishes arrived in short order, and we were actually donewith our meal and dessert around 8:50p. Read more

The building itself and decor are super charming and very historic Hudson Valley - what a treat! The staff are respectful,... helpful and chic. The food is a delight, and you have to try the cocktails! Only regret is getting too full for dessert! Read more

Unfortunately a disappointment, largely due to the food. Pork shoulder steak came out very rubbery and difficult to chew;... perhaps shoulder is not the right cut for a steak preparation. The sauce was good. There were actually two pork shouldersordered in our party, and they were of vastly different sizes, which was somewhat surprising. Scallops were implied to be verylarge, and though they were large, they were just big scallops, not quite what was being suggested, though overall the taste wasgood. Beet and goat cheese salad was good, but lacked greens. Overall, all the sauces were great, the bread was great, and thecocktails were great, but the cooking of the mains left something to be desired, and the sides were somewhat underwhelming aswell. The service was overall good, though with many empty tables they seated us at one with the AC blowing right on it (despiteothers being available). Read more

Wonderfully warm atmosphere in this restored landmark building (1782) blends beautifully with the elegant simplicity of the... menu. Letting the flavors of each unique ingredient stand out in each thoughtful dish, the chef has created a menu that is smallin quantity and over the moon in quality. Oysters served on a bed of salt with only a lemon wedge allows you to enjoy thenatural flavor of the oysters. The kettle chips are ???????? The highlight was the locally sourced ribeye with creamed kale -just melted in my mouth. Paula served us at the bar and she was the perfect balance of engaging and confident in the drinks anddishes served. The only gripe I have is the entrance, which isn’t clearly labeled, and so you end up doing a lap around thebuilding until you figure it out. Read more

Beautiful cozy new American restaurant with fantastic service. Loved the fresh farm to table menu. The endive and pear salad was... very good. The chicken was excellent, juicy and with the crispiest skin. Squash was also deliciously spliced. We ended our mealwith the toffee Sunday which was to die for. All the waiters were super friendly and attentive! Looking forward to many moremeals at this delicious restaurant! Read more
