This place was awesome. We stopped in for lunch on our way home from a trip to Pittsburgh. Got the Italian wedding soup, veal... parmesean sandwich and open-faced beef & gravy. Everything tasted great and the portions are huge. I didnt catch our waitressesname, but she was phenomenal. The best service we've had in a long time. Would definitely go here again and we plan to. So many delicious menu items and all three of us got hoagies and they were huge and yummy! Pictured is the Italian, chicken... parmigiana and the steak hoagies, the homemade Italian dressing was to die for, definitely a perfect place to get the besthoagies in Pittsburgh. This place is great. The atmosphere is very cozy and all the staff was very friendly. The food is very well-priced. You'll get a... humongous portion of some delicious authentic Italian food and be set for lunch the next day. Really amazing place. Read more
Some things never change, and that's a good thing. We hadn't eaten here for a few years, and it was just as though we were there... yesterday. Same great food and friendly attentive service. This was my first time at Big Jim?s. What everyone said about this place was right on. The portions are huge. As you can see by... my photos of the veal parmigiana dinner, two huge pieces of veal on top of the spaghetti. Plus salad and garlic bread.I couldonly eat half of the veal. You get the impression that the... people eating at Big Jim's have been eating at Big Jim's for decades, maybe even millennia. Once you get over the feeling thatyou're an interloper trespassing into a sacred space, you can settle into the humble premises and order a pizza or calzone.Expect to wait around 45 minutes for your masterpiece to arrive. When it does, you won't be disappointed in its girth or taste,especially for its price. Do note, however, that the calzones are missing an ingredient that I consider to be essential for thefull calzone experience: ricotta.
