Claiming to be a true French restaurant in Pittsburgh, we had the chance to try it when some friends came to town and we also... happened to get a gift certificate to it. The dinner menu was not very appealing but they had a Sunday brunch menu that was, andso we made reservations and tried them out. The four-star rating that I decided to give them is a mix of the good things andnot so good things that we saw and experienced. We’ll start with Nathan who was our server. He was excellent. Veryknowledgeable about the menu – able to explain things to all of us – and was not intimidated by our questions and sometimesquirky sense of humor. He checked on us frequently throughout the meal and made sure our water glasses were full and if weneeded anything. Definitely five-star service. The food was very good as well. Everything we tried was cooked well andgenerously seasoned. Being French food, butter and fat dominated – which is not a bad thing and you should expect this. Onthe other hand, there were a few misses. Everything is basically a la carte. When you read the menu, you will see them mentionthat a salad comes on the side. That is simply not true. There is a garnish of well dressed and tasty lettuce leaves on theside, but it’s not a salad. If you want side veggies, you have to order them separately. We did that, and both the Asparagusin Hollandaise sauce and Haricot Verts in a butter garlic sauce were executed very well (although the beans were not trimmed atall so we did have some stems to deal with). The Eggs Benedict were cooked well, but, again, were minimalist: Two eggs on abaguette, with a squish of Hollandaise Sauce on top. The bigger miss was the prices. This place is super expensive, even withthe general inflation these days. Each of our plates was pushing close to $20. Glasses of wine were in the $15-20 range as well. Now, if these were super premium wines that might have been Ok, but we are talking about Aperitifs like Kir and wines likeBeaujol Read more

If you are unsure about what kind of vibe this restaurant gives off, just read the responses that the owner posts to the... negative reviews--I scrolled through some of them and whenever there's a negative review, the owner fights back with a sarcasticand condescending remark: how dare you speak ill of my restaurant, which is the best restaurant in the entire world?! You don'tunderstand French food and therefore you don't deserve it anyways... This in fact reflects perfectly my experience with thestaff, especially management, at the restaurant--unhelpful, unapologetic, pretentious, condescending and sometimes maybe evenaggressive. Some people might think the food is decent--well, it's only decent because they are the only French restaurant nowin Pittsburgh so you can't compare. My food experience here so far has only bland and boring at best, which is ironic becauseFrench food is supposed to be culinary culmination of humanity--certainly not this restaurant. Paired with the attitude andprices (your prices were high even before the whole inflation thing so no need to use this argument) here, it's really not worthcoming back after your first try. Oh and apparently they have a policy to charge each guest 30 dollars (!!!) for a latecancellation, EVEN if it's due to medical emergency. Yup, you have to go try their world's best food even if you are having asevere heart attack, otherwise it will cost you all the medical bills plus 30 dollars because your no-show for the reservationprevented other people to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime gustatory extravaganza. By the way, lovely owner of the restaurant, Iknow you are going to come at me with your usual mean and lame comment. But how about, this time, instead of yelling at yourcustomers and calling them dumb and uncultured, think about what you could do to improve the your food and diners' experience?Because I'm not the first one posting a bad review, and I certainly, certainly won't be the last one. A small street frontage connects to a long back space, via the kitchens. The menu reflects a traditional French bistro, but the... food was a slight disappointment: the onion soup was scalding hot (good) but more broth than onion; the chicken thighs in ciderdish from Normandy arrived with a brown sauce, which wasn't what I was expecting, and came with literally no vegetables. Wine bythe glass was decent, if a touch expensive. My server was great. Read more

Can’t remember ever going to a French restaurant before but WOW, this was an incredible first experience. The food was all... delicious and very filling, atmosphere was quite nice and the jazz music made it even better. Service here was perfect and ourserver even gave my boyfriend and I each a complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary which we both reallyappreciated. More than one staff member wished us a happy anniversary on our way out too which was truly heartwarming. Thanksagain for making our night out so special! Read more

Had Sunday Brunch here today with my wife and 2 young children. It was my daughter’s 10th birthday and she is obsessed with... all things French. The food was tremendous but the star of the show was the service provided by Alyssa. It was nonchalantlymentioned at the beginning of our meal that our daughter picked it for her birthday. At the end of our meal, Alyssa surprisedher with macarons with sparkler candles on them and the entire restaurant sang her Happy Birthday. You have now idea how specialyou made her feel. We own a restaurant of our own, and service like the kind that was provided to my family today is invaluable. You’re lucky to have an Alyssa. We will definitely be back. Our daughter hasn’t stopped talking about it. Great job all theway around. Read more

Had a decent meal, first time eating French food. Overall fun. Foie gras is nice and “appetizing”, a bit shy on quantity... though. Demi-glacé sounds so tasty on paper but it tastes a bit boring. the shank was cooked thoroughly so that is all right.Waiter is great, filling up my water all the time and not bothering me while I am eating. Left this review because I had evenmore fun reading the owner debate the one-star reviews in French. Keep it up, man. Read more

Pretentious and expensive. We went on Sunday for brunch without a reservation and they said there were "fully booked" however... they accommodated us, which we appreciated. However there were plenty of open tables in the restaurant. Maybe they were understaffed. Im sorry but $14 for a mimosa is way too much. Eggs Benedict plate for $18 is an expensive breakfast. An expresso(double) for over $5 is overpriced. Service is good and staff is friendly. I think perhaps is the owner that wants to chargeextra, for really nothing out of the ordinary. This was the most expensive brunch I've ever had. For 2 people, over $60 and notincluding the tip, honestly, I do not recommend this place because of the pricing. There are plenty of less priced and highlyrated places around this restaurant. Read more
