We really enjoy a night out here, especially when it's shrimp fest! It's the best verity of shrimp,and cooked to perfection,... and they keep it coming. Love the apps too. We were having a ladies day out on Tuesday August 30 in the afternoon. Surprisingly excellent seafood meal for 2!! Finally a... seafood restaurant in Pittsburgh area that knows how to grill seafood and reasonably priced!! Lobster, Salmon & Shrimp were allfresh & cooked perfectly!! The chef is a keeper!! Ii hadn’t been to Rex Lobster in ages and when it was brought up I thought it was still lobster fest. I love lobster, so I... thought we should check it out. Sadly, the information I had been given about lobster fest was old news, but I love their rolls& was in the mood for lobster. The lobster tail was good. I remember them having very good shrimp scampi, but this time it washorrible. No flavor. Just shrimp in plain butter. The scallops were okay. Rice had very little flavor, too. The Mac & cheese wasstill good as lunch later. I got way too much other food to eat that with my seafood. I still would recommend going to a decentseafood restaurant and paying more for good seafood instead of getting frozen seafood for a lower price. I ordered create your own combination the broiled scallops the Brussel sprouts and lobster mashed potatoes. The Brussel sprouts... was not fully cooked they was way too hard and the scallops was cut into tiny little pieces with some type of sauce I didn't asked for I told them I wanted it like broiled without any sauce it had so much liquid like they was drowning them.the onlything was any good was the biscuits and the mashed potatoes never ever I will order scallops from there when I heal up from mysurgery I will cook them for my self at home at least then I know it will be done they need new cooks that knows how tocook.this was a call in order made on Dec 2 2021 I placed the order about 11.20 am. I ordered off the “CREATE YOUR OWN” section; got the 2 entrees for $19.99; Atlantic Salmon ???? Garlic Shrimp Scampi... ???????? with 2 sides; Mashed Potatoes ???? Steamed Broccoli ???? Everything was DELICIOUS! Apart from that the waiter wasamazing. Didn’t get her name; but she was very warming and professional. Quite a disappointment for my first time at this iconic chain. The waitress was great & had recommendations, but the food did... not match the upscale atmosphere. Most of the lettuce in my salad was browned. The fish fry- the most basic of seafood dishes-tasted as though it had been made an hour before then reheated in the oven. The “Cole slaw” side was not a side. It was notan amount for a side dish so I think it was supposed to be tartar sauce? But it was all mayonnaise and had neither capers northe bite of tartar sauce… No matter how you slice it, it was just wrong. I hoped dessert would save the night and thecheesecake was delicious, but it was still frozen. It was not consumed until 3 hours later.
