stopped for lunch on way to airport. first impression, weird diner type atmosphere, but there's some history and i like these... kind of places. the food was great. had a classic steak and cheese with fries. the steak was good but the bread really madethe sandwich. great bread, a great sub, and pretty damn good fries. tho not sure the soda machine is distributing real "coke",but it is drinkable. overall, diner like place, a little cluttered / messier than desired, but the food is great. best food Ihad in Pittsburgh. would definitely go back. Love this location. Every uncle sams is on point but the staff here are always in such good moods and it makes it a very... pleasant experience! The food is also fire always. Reasonable prices, good drink options, outdoor seating and lots of parking! Read more
Uncle Sam's Sandwich Bar is the kind of place you go when you are in Pittsburgh, PA and you have a hankering for a Delicious,... Hoagie Sandwich. Their sandwiches are one of the best Hoagies that I have had in Pittsburgh. I really enjoy, the Filet MignonSteak Sandwich. I normally get it from the Robinson Township location. The steak is thinly cut topped with onions, cheeselettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms and a Vinaigrette dressing. They also serve, Cheese Steak, Turkey Breasts Subs, Italian SausageSubs, Provolone and egg, Stuff Italian Tuna Subs, Ham and Cheese Subs, and many more. In addition, they have a very niceVegetarian Sub selection where they have a Mediterranean Sub, a Vegetable Combo Sub, Rome Vegetable Sub, Vegetable Florentineand the Portobello Sub is another favorite of mine. I like Uncle Sam's, although I don't eat here often. Sandwiches are pretty good and a change from the burgers & chicken sandwich... fare I go for too much. My biggest negative is the time it took to receive my food. I didn't time it, but it must have been atleast 20 minutes. I was in a bit of a rush, so it seemed even longer. Another time I might not have minded, but this time it wasfrustrating. That said, it was lunch time and pretty crowded so perhaps I should have considered that before ordering. Read more
I do not usually write bad reviews, and this is the first time I've been here. The moment I walked in I noticed none of the... staff had smiles on their faces or said hello. I placed my order for a sub, and asked for lettuce tomato on the side since I hada half hour drive home. The cashier gave me my order number and I sat down and waited a short time. The female prep cookmurmured my order number and placed my to-go bag on the counter. As I walked over I asked to confirm my order number - with noresponse. The mail prep cook next to her confirmed my order number, and I said thank you have a great night - no response. Theyforgot my lettuce tomato on the side, and the sub and fries, (you have to pay extra for fries when normally they would come withyour order if you don't place to take out order, to which they said my only option was take out, upon placing my order) wasmediocre. I'm not a sandwich critic, but you'd be better off going somewhere else in that area. If the food was better, Iwouldn't be here writing this review. First and last time I'll be eating here, and surprised at the lack of competency andkindness with the workers at this establishment. Train your employees better or find another job. PASS Read more
It was my first Philadelphia cheese steak, so I don't know what they should be like. But the one I got at Uncle Sam's was very... good, the size is enormous, and I believe for Europeans we would be enough just half of it. It comes with fries which makes itbig portion. Read more
Food is bomb prices for subs range from 8-10$ 10inches so good. Place is classy and clean staff all looked styled. Abit high... tentions but it's a bar aswell so they deal with alot it's not bad. All gloved up cooked in front of you. Only if here is nomask n that's controversial but for those that care I over looked it food sooo good. Also I missed out! If u dine in u get FREEfries!!!!!
