I moved to Texas from Northern New Jersey 13 + years ago, I can honestly say that I had yet to find an Italian food restaurant... here in Texas worth recommending. Until now. Covino's goes well out of their way to take care of their customers.... I shouldsay, their "guests", Covino's has a "family" air to it. Today was my third visit, Bill helped me all three times, Russ assistedme, as well, the last time I was here, about 2-3 weeks ago, Bill and Russ go well out of their way, along with all of the otheremployees, to make their guests' experiences, completely enjoyable. I had special requests for how I wanted my pizza, and unlikean unnamed, other local location in Plano, about 2 miles due North of Covino's, that couldn't be bothered, both Bill & Russ wentwell out of their way to get my pizza for me as I requested. As for the owner, Joe, all I can say, is that Joe is one of themost gracious, personable and down to earth restaurant owners that I have yet to meet, he greets all of the guests and is a justa really nice guy. While I was waiting for my pizza to come out, we chatted and had some good laughs, along with Bill; Joe,Bill, Russ and the other employees at Covino's, make it very enjoyable to be there. Oh, and the food.... excellent, like Imentioned, this is the third time back there, I have yet to visit any other "Italian" restaurants in the area more then once,and I have every intention in going back there. I highly recommend Covino's; ask for Bill or Russ, and if Joe is there, makesure you find him and chat with him, you will not be disappointed in the food, the atmosphere or the people there. We?ve been to Covina?s several times over the last few years and the food never disappoints. The pizza and pasta are always... delicious, the atmosphere is romantic and the service is very friendly. I love the home cooked taste of the pasta and thecappuccino ice cream pie is a perfect end cap to a meal. It?s BYOB which is a great way to not spend too much for a meal. Wewill be back again. We ordered the calamari and ?Joe?s special? NY style pizza and a dinner salad. The calamari was overcooked and dry, it came with... a tub of marinara sauce. The pizza did not travel well. I arrived at my destination 7 minutes after I picked up the food. Thecenter of the pizza was wet, gooey and fell apart. The pizza toppings quality was good. The salad was nothing special. Read more
This is our favorite neighborhood Italian place! Bring your favorite bottle of wine from home and enjoy fantastic food and... friendly service. They have a great patio which is wonderful if you are like me and still a little concerned about eating insidesomewhere. If it is cold outside they will turn on the heaters for you. Read more
This is my first time visiting this restaurant when visiting Plano, and for my first experience, it was very memorable. (We had... a party of 6, celebrating a birthday. A friend recommended this place to us.) The atmosphere walking in, was very pleasant, andthe servers were very friendly, and assisted us with everything we needed. As we were getting our drinks, one of the drinkstipped over and spilled on top of me. At first, it startled me, then I realized what happened to me: I was drenched in waterfrom the legs under. The guy was very apologetic, and said this was his first time working an afternoon shift. I was never mador upset at him because I know, accidents happen, and they happen naturally. For one, the calamari that was served to us, wasvery crispy and delicious. After we ordered our food, we got served salads before our main course, and the salads were veryflavorful, and just a little salty for our tastes. Now for the main course. I ordered Shrimp Picatta, and it came out prettyquickly, along with our other food. For one, there was so much flavor in the food, which I absolutely loved. Now for dessert.Our friend got a slice of cheesecake, and I tried a bite of it, and it was delicious. When she meant, "this cheesecake is to diefor," she meant it. Read more
Decent, home style Italian food. It's BYOB so you're responsible for the quality of the drink. The fettuccini had the arrabbiata... sauce which was way too spicy ????! The chicken ravioli was good, except the sauce was too thick. But it was a great environmentand good friends. Read more
I went here today for my birthday with my mom, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We got calamari and chicken alfredo pizza. The... food was very delicious, especially that pizza, we absolutely loved it. The customer service was beyond exceptional. Everyonethere was really kind and very attentive from the second we walked through the door. If you like great food and great customerservice, you will love this quaint restaurant. Read more
