Food was great and the company was too. Celebrating my grandsons 19th birthday so it was a great time had by all of us.
Visited the Gator at the Norfolk. The restaurant. The old Norfolk Tavern. The only good thing about our evening was our server.... We had a simple hamburger and fries. A big thumps down. Stale bun, old fries and the burger itself had a funny taste and smell.Hate to leave this review. I always try and support our local restaurants, but this one, I'm sorry I won't return. P.S. This place tries hard to be a dive bar, but the food and service quality and cleanliness of the place are a little too high for... that! The staff are friendly and accommodating, happy to do their best to ensure you have a great meal. The prices are decent,and the food quality is just excellent. I strongly suggest trying their smoked meats. Best I?ve had in Port Dover. I frequentthis place after Monday, sailboat races, and I highly recommend. Read more
This was a terrible experience. This place is gross! We were seated around a bunch of local drinkers. The placed stunk like... cigarettes and disappointment. The food was a rip off and looked like it had been sitting back there for hours. Our $24 mealcame with 2 sides which were in small containers the size of a shot glass. We will never return!! We are regulars at the Gator and frankly, it is hit and miss. Often great service and food and sometimes awful. Went with a... group of seven September 7 for wing night. My wife ordered a pound of hot wings and I ordered a third of a rack of ribs for achange as the previous Saturday a friend had awesome ribs. My wife was served Salt and Pepper wings??. Sent back and returned asSalt and Pepper wings tossed in a little bit of hot sauce. NOT cool. Ribs were awful. Dried out and obviously left over andreheated. I am a loyal customer and expect better. Really hope that they get their act together constantly. After posting this,I was contacted by the manager Billy and was asked to come back and give them another try. The ribs AND wings were excellent andrenewed my faith! The Gator certainly does value their loyal customers. Give them a try. Read more
Careful ordering for a gathering at the Norfolk Gator BBQ. I placed an order for Sept.13th. for an anniversary lunch and a week... later on Sept. 7th I got a call and they basically canceled my order. Due to outdated prices which I got right off the onlinemenu and because the store in Simcoe is presently closed. Very disappointed! Read more
First time patronizing this establishment and will not be our last. Called to order takeout dinner since missed the outside... kiosk following the Friday the 13th happenings a few days prior. Chose two of the 3 item combos. We both chose pulled pork andribs, which were excellent. Chicken was okay but a bit over done dry, not juicy tender. For our 3 sides we chose baked beans,fries (real potatoes - fresh, not frozen), cornbread muffins. All items were great. All decent portions. Enjoyed our choices. We definitely will be repeat customers and have plans to dine-in next time. A great barbecue meal overall. Try it. I thinkyou'll like it. Support Dover/Norfolk local. We are glad we did. Read more
