I?ve been to the beach house several times, both during the summer, but also well after this season has ended. They market... themselves as a beach bar, but their food quality is top notch. Even on a cold, windy day, it?s quite comfortable to go in andget a solid good meal. I had their clam chowder paired with mixed vegetables and yellow perch. It was exactly what I needed.The chowder was rich and filling, and the perch was cooked to perfection. It?s a minor issue, but their plating would be betterif they provided butter that wasn?t in a little plastic container. I followed it up with their bread pudding dessert. After reading the many 1? reviews, I was very anxious to dine at this restaurant. There seemed to be a common theme with people... of colour... and we took every route to find an alternative location. But it's location really is prime and we relented to atleast have a few sealed drinks, as we were still very cautious after reading the reviews. I am usually a very happy, talkativeand friendly person... but every action gave me pause and I entered the patio of the restaurant silent and observant. I watchedfor the dark haired female serve like a hawk, as I was preparing myself to be treated poorly. No such encounter. We had a lovelystaff member who was friendly, attentive and warm. She truly did her best and checked on us often. I was very happy we haddecided to give this establishment a chance, as my father and fiance also had a great time. It is very reasonably priced forfood and drinks, but the staff member's talkative, friendly demeanor elevated the entire experience... as did that amazingBaileys sticky toffee pudding cake. While I recognize we may not have encountered this dark haired unpleasant staff member, Ibelieve the establishment is worth giving a chance. They do hire a certain look for their establishment and it's noticeable, butthe employees were working very diligently and you could tell they were giving their all. I would say their treatment ofcustomers seemed professional and pleasant. Perhaps they took notice of the past reviews and took action to improve? The maindishes quality were not exceptional (steak cut was tough and sinewy), but it was reflective of the prices in a high touristlocation. My steak was a bit over cooked, but I could forgive it easily, as the seasoning was my favorite Montreal steak spiceand it had great flavour. It's a quick meal location geared towards families and you get the option to have a few alcohol baseddrinks with a lovely view. They executed their meals quickly and professionally. Palm trees in Canada? This is a really neat restaurant with a surprisingly nice beach atmosphere. The restaurant has a relaxing... outside seating area with great views of Lake Erie and a nearby lighthouse with a pier. Locally caught fish is cooked toperfection and the taste is amazing. Plenty of seafood choices for appetizers. Parking lot is not the best, but not terrible.Service can be a little slow, but that allows you time to take in the views. Plan on spending $60-$80 for 2 people. Read more
First time to this restaurant, Callahans Beach House. Great choices on the menu. Reasonably priced, made with fresh... ingredients. Fabulous outdoor patio with umbrellas and a view of the beach. My husband and I came here for dinner and everything was exceptional. The drinks were reasonably priced, the food options were... spectacular. The service was friendly and the toffee cake was amazing. The view and sounds from the beach really made the nightspecial. They had lights on the patio for when it got dark. I want to give it more than 3. Going in the slow season (fall/winter) is significantly different than busy season. I went in the... winter with my family. Waitress was very nice and good with my kids. Food was plated well and tasted pretty good. Asked for amedium steak, little on the rare side but not bad. Nice decor on the inside, great views of the water and beach. Read more
