The Mule in Port Dover is a deliciously different place to enjoy good Mexican-type food & drink in a unique setting! We... discovered this place too late in the season to be able to enjoy their extensive outdoor patio that promises to be an awesomeplace to dine in warmer weather. But we were happy to be able to dine inside this time because it’s worth the experience: acolourful décor with a warm Mexican vibe. The only negative is the uncomfortable metal chairs they have, but that could be morea reflection of the lack of padding I have on that part of my anatomy than anything else. The food & atmosphere are so good thatI’ll probably just bring a cushion next time.\n\nTheir menu is designed in such a way that at first, you’d question whetherthey actually had any food to offer at all! The first four pages of the menu feature only drinks, from cocktails to margaritasto beer, with an entire page devoted to tequilas, and another entire page devoted to bourbons! Very impressive indeed.Especially when you see that they also offer flights of the various varieties!\n\nBut it’s only when you hit the last pagethat you finally discover the food. Their offerings are divided into Tacos and Not Tacos. Very cute :) We started off with someofferings from the latter: guacamole & chips and fries supreme with beef & pork. The fries plate was to die for! It was sooooogood! It consisted of crispy spiced French fries with a lightly spiced queso and shredded cheddar cheese, along with pico degallo, lime crema and green onion with ground beef & pork on top. Just WOW!\n\nFor tacos, we tried the pork belly taco and theachiote chicken taco, along with two tacos from a special feature menu: the piggy bean taco (not sure why they called it thatbecause there are no beans on it!) and the fried portobello mushroom taco. All of them were stacked, messy to eat, andabsolutely delicious! If we had to pick a favourite, it would probably be piggy bean taco. Need to get that one on the regular m Read more

First time visiting and our experience was nothing short of amazing. The food was delicious and the portions were just right.... Food items are also reasonably priced. Their classic margaritas were delicious! We had the pleasure of meeting the GM Summerand she went above and beyond to ensure my husband and I had a great evening. Highly recommend giving them a try! We cant waitto come back and sit by the fire on the patio, drink in hand! Read more

Really fun decor and friendly staff. Food menu is a bit small but they are definitely known for their cocktails as that is very... extensive. We enjoyed the sweet potatoes tacos. Read more

This is a really cute spot. Great atmosphere and staff. However, the prices are very high for what you get. Pork belly and fish... taco were both over cooked and dry. Very small tacos, they were $9 each. And $14 for a small margarita is too much. I hope theysurvive but I don\'t imagine the locals will support this place through the winter with prices like that. Great location just off Main St., across from the park. Lots of patio seating. Street parking available. Three of us dined on a... Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm (approx), a table was available, no reservation, although they were busy. We shared a corn salad, tortilla chips w black bean dip, and three kinds of tacos (perch, pulled pork, and chicken). Three are lots for one person, prices were reasonable. Good variety of draft and canned beer. Very friendly and professional staff. Will return. Read more

What do you do when Rogers is out?!?! You grab cash, get in the car and head out on an old school road trip like back in the... day. Headed out to the neighboring town of Port Dover for a nice walkabout and a solo lunch. I remember reading a recommendationon a post for The Mule and thought that I would give it a try. Its located in Port Dover, across from the park, where The CrepeHouse used to be. It is a bright coloured and welcoming restaurant which is super inviting. I sat out on the patio that had lotsof shady spots, and umbrellas out. It was a nice warm day with sun and cloud which was perfect patio weather. The Mule is knownfor Tacos, Tequila and Burbon. The menu is set up mostly of alcohol and then on the back a small menu of Tacos vs Not Tacos. Idecided I was in the mood for fries so my choices were a meat poutine or fries surpreme which came veggie or you could add meatto it for an additional $3.00. I tried the veggie fries surpreme. As you can see my food looked fantastic. The portion was a bitsmall but it was filling and a good small lunch. The thing that got me about these fries were the flavors. Oh my lanta. Thefries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Then there was a queso sauce which was soooo flavorful. Then there was sour creme forthe cool flavor that the fries surpreme needs. Then add super fresh tomatoes and green onions. All of which married the dishtogether perfectly. There was NOTHING I would change about it. It was like an upscale fries surpreme with amazing flavors andadd in options. I would love to go back for drinks and tacos. Also, special mention to the servers who were going with the flowof a cash only day. They were friendly, welcoming and super attentive to my needs. Highly recommended. Read more
