Pretty great poutine. Can get extremally busy at lunch time, especially when the SDSS kids come, but that is expected due to its... proximity to the school. The best time to go is after school hours as there is not the same rush. Read more
This sandwich costs $10+tax, felt like a rip off. It tasted fine tho.
I don't usually enjoy eating sandwiches but these were exceptionally good sandwiches I'd have to admit. The fries were great... as well. The only thing I was not a fan of was that the poutine I ordered was served on a paper tray and then put in a paperbag you would use for bakery items (like a cookie) and all the gravy and cheese ended up getting stuck to the paper. Small cute place that serves great sandwiches. Extremely light on the stomach, we can choose whatever toppings we want and how... much ever big we want to make the sandwiches. The Garage Sandwich Co. is an accessible, small-ish, eatery on the main strip in Port Elgin. We were drawn to it, because it was... open later than some of the other spots in town, items are reasonably priced, and because they have a vegan soup every day. Oncewe made our way inside we were delighted to learn that salads are customizeable and they have a very special process forpreparing their fries that renders them light and crispy. The owner is an incredibly nice man who's business is bringingsomething to Port Elgin that the other restaurants on the main strip can't match. The ingredients are yummy and fresh. Therecipes are well thought out and balanced, and the effort and labour that goes into the production of each order is detectablein the assembly of, and taste, of each dish. We loved the service, we LOVED the vegan soup offerings and look forward toreturning to try some of the other menu offerings. You should know that this location features a small dining room, with verylimited seating out front and is more of a service counter in front of a kitchen than a traditional restaurant. If you need arestroom you'll have to waddle over to the nearby Tim Horton's. Read more
I've tried so many Ontario poutines, and I can confidently say this is the best one in Ontario. I can't visit Port Elgin without... getting their poutine now. The owner really knows what he's doing and he's sourcing some excellent ingredients.
