This little hidden gem called twenty six attached to The Social is a great atmosphere. I love the dim lighting, candles... everywhere and a fireplace with a couch, chairs and a table to rest your drink on if you want to relax by the fire. A great newplace if you've never been, you should give it a try Talk to Jesse, the one with all the tattoos about the drinks. Jordan willalways keep your water filled and Liam is an excellent cook. We had a lovely Dine-in experience! We made a reservation for 9 of us and sat along the window. Very cute farmhouse dining... vibe. They have a good variety of meal options - I had the steak frites, medium rare, and it was done perfectly. The basil aioliand the truffle gravy were amazing. We had wine, but they have a variety of local craft beer options to choose from. To finish Ihad the semifreddo. If you are a fan of peanut butter type treats - this is for you. It was the most elevated PBJ ice creamdessert I've ever had the pleasure of eating. So delicious! In terms of housekeeping, The serving staff continued to wear amask. Yesterday we decided to explore the pristine beach of Cobourg and after all the excitement of the evening we realised that it... was past 8:30 pm and most restaurants had closed. Being vegan and vegetarian sometimes gets daunting as it’s difficult to findgood food serving us. The Social Bar was one of the two options open and we called to ask if anything was vegan. Harrison, oneof the servers answered our call and he was extremely positive and happy to cater to our dietary choices with the existing menu.On reaching the restaurant we met with the same gusto and welcome making us comfortable and relieved that we shall get goodfood. Indeed Harrison provided us with service beyond expectations and the whole experience was relaxing and wonderful. When arestaurant adapts and caters to a clients needs shows how much they value customer service. Would highly recommend this placefor any one who travels till port hope or even plan a dinner visit from far. Food was delicious and perfectly prepared as ourdiet. The first time I ate here I had the duck eggs Benny and it was very dry. A few months later I returned and the food I ordered... was significantly better. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles served with apple butter. The chicken is very good! Crisp on theoutside and juicy on the inside. The waffle could use some improvement. It is pale in colour, limp in aesthetic, and an almostdensely spongy texture. I prefer my waffles golden crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The apple butter is good andalso served with their Brie which I enjoyed on another occasion. Their muscles in a spicy tomato sauce are my favourite. I wasswapped the fries for a salad and I highly recommend others do the same. Their maple dressing is fantastic and they shouldbottle it for sale. The oysters were good as well but not to my personal taste. I no longer live in the area so I won’t bereturning but I would recommend it to someone passing through or to celebrate a special occasion. There are two sides to theestablishment, the social which is more casual and the twenty six which is more fine dining. Both share a kitchen and some menuitems but each have exclusive offerings. Overall well done. PS the chipotle Aoli is very good! Ask for a side with your fries.Or order the chicken sandwich if you’re fine with using your hands. Read more
