I purchased a 10% discount card to support my local Porterville football team. The General cafe manager did not want honor the... discount on the card....what a disappointment. I will not buy a card in the future that has this cafe listed, they need to beexcluded from the card for falsely advertising. Schools need to add a reliable local cafe. Read more

I understand every now and then staff will mess up on your orders and mistakes will be made... But that's when the manager needs... to step up and make things right and not get combative when someone brings the mistakes to his attention.... I like the food andI keep giving this place a second and third chance and the staff keeps disappointing by messing up the orders ..no bueno....sad Read more

As a breakfast spot, the cafe is decent. The service is quick, and my food came out hot and faster than I expected. I had the... breakfast sandwich with hash browns and it was good. The ham didn't taste very fresh, but the buttery bread and fresh cheesemade up for that. I added my hash browns to the sandwich for added flavor. The one thing that always hangs me up about GeneralsCafe is how expensive it can be. I only got the breakfast sandwich and a soda and it cost me $20. The sodas are alreadyexpensive at around $3.59, but when I was offered cherries and cherry juice (the juice that the cherries come in) to make acherry Pepsi, I wasn't informed that would be an additional charge and take the cost of my soda from $3.59 to $4.49. This placeis a decent step up from Denny's, but if you're looking for cheap, I'd go to Denny's. Read more

Got way too much food, but it was all great! Chicken strips were good as well as the tri tip dip sandwich with curly fries. I... wish the gravy was more flavorful on the biscuits and gravy. It probably could've used more sausage. Great service, especiallyconsidering how busy they were on a Sunday around noon. Food came out pretty quick. Read more

This café was known as Perko?s Café for many years and recently changed to Generals Cafe and Grill. My family and I enjoyed... great service, hot coffee and good food. Beverages: Water tastes good, coffee was refilled several times Entrees: French Toastand Chicken Fried Steak were both very good. Opportunity for improvement: Perhaps more berries in the side of fruitoffered. Ambience: On a Sunday at noon, this place was full and there was a good diner vibe going on.
