Genuinely disappointed with this place. Came here at 6 on a Wednesday and bafflingly they were closed. What bar closes at 6pm... on a Wednesday in the middle of august in the middle is Portland ? Couldn?t be more disappointed as a tourist that came here onvacation looking to get a beer mid day. Of old port tavern is looking to stay open they should maybe open before 12pm and maybeyou guys should open as a bar and actually serve your customers. Absolute joke of a bar in the great city of Portland. My son's, who live out of state, came up for a nice weekend visit. By happenstance we ended up at the Old Port Tavern. The... waitress was very friendly and bubbly. We really enjoyed her. The atmosphere was really fun and engaging. There is custom ironwork and huge aquariums. I think the salt water one in the back is 375 gallons. Beautiful. I had a Greek salad with grilledchicken, my oldest son had the French dip and my youngest son had the lobster roll. The food came out very quickly and was freshand tasty. Nothing bad to say. Came in for lunch. The place was empty. The Prime Rib Sandwich had Zero flavor. Kind of like the meat was made of rubber. The... Jous for dipping was also tasteless. Just colored water. Fries were ok. The Coke was half water,over ice, half melted. Just abig fat disappointment for a Day Off Lunch. I didn't even take the second half with me. It wasn't worth the effort to box it up. Great location for good food when you?re sick of quick cheap food or chain restaurants in the old port. This is not overly... expensive even though it looks really nice with finer entree choices than other local diners. This is a more meal oriented thanentertainment oriented which provides a good break from the louder locations in the area. Good balance of price and food too.However this location is still casual enough to be enjoyed at any time. I would totally recommend this to couples or families. Read more
The food was ok, both the scallop appetizer and the haddock dinner we're overcooked and dry. The drinks were good. They... accommodated our largish party (17 people) well and staff were attentive. Though it is not their usual policy they allowed us tohave separate checks. Ambiance was good and I think that most of our party would return. Prices were moderate. Read more
