We stumbled upon this small tasting room in Portland?s old port district. The tasting fee was inexpensive (about $5 if I... recall) and the pours were generous. The lady doing the pouring was knowledgeable and very friendly. The wines we tried weredelicious and quite reasonable?my favorite was the Blueberry Sangria. However, the standout for me was the Back River Gin. asmall-batch gin. Tasted neat, it has an amazing silky mouth feel and the 43% alcohol content is hidden by a clean, smooth rushof juniper and volatiles. My wife isn?t a spirits drinker but she enjoyed it and remarked on how smooth and tasty it was. Witha little splash of tonic water, I was hooked. We bought a bottle of Blueberry Sangria which we drank along the rest of ourtravels, but the gin came home. I keep wondering if I?m going to share it with my gin-drinking buddies, but I have to try a fewmore times to make up my mind? Read more

An great little spot to nip in for a drink or if you want to do a tasting. The gin and vermouth combo was one of the best I've... ever had. Read more

Dropped in while wandering around Portland with my husband and two small children. The hostess seemed annoyed that we dare enter... with our children, despite there being no other customers. Felt as if she couldn't wait for us to leave, which we did as Iquickly finished my tasting. I could understand it if there were other customers or kids were being noisy/rowdy, but neither wasthe case. The wine was decent, just wish I could have taken the time to enjoy it. Read more

This cute quaint tasting room explores a great selection of gins, wines and a whiskey. The bartender was excellent and... knowledgeable and the spirits were great! We just wondered in to the tasting room one day and all left with a bottle we bought. The cranberry Gin is great in cocktails! I highly recommend trying this place! Read more

Had a great time visiting Sweetgrass and doing a tasting here. I am not a gin person, but I was really impressed and ended up... buying a bottle! I would absolutely recommend checking this place out of you enjoy tastings -- and they have beers, wines, gin,and rum to sample! Pro Tip: If you do the testing, you get to keep the cup as a cheap souvenir. Read more

We had a great experience here. We went in November and so we were essentially the only customers there and the lovely hostess... was amazing at describing everything in the menu. Tasting is only $5 for 4 samples and you get to keep the glass and everythingon their menu is super unique and something we really hadn?t tried before. The black river Gin was absolutely outstanding and mypartner walked away with her favorite ?the cranberry gin. Read more

I went here with a couple friends, but couldn't do a tasting due to an upset stomach. The lady working the counter brought me a... glass of elderberry bitters to soothe my stomach. When people go above and beyond to be nice, it really makes an impression. Therhubarb liqueur was particularly good according to my friends. Tastings are also only five dollars, plus a complimentary glass. Read more
