The make an amazing Rueben but you have to order extra meat. Its prob top 2 or 3 i Have ever had and I have eaten 100s. BREAD... IS AMAZING. The Italian hoagie I would not feed to my dog. Its AWFUL. Rare that a place can make one thing so well andone thing so poorly. Read more
I wish when ordering there was a better description of the difference between tall and long. Because I wasn?t impressed by the... soggy sourdough bread. I wanted an Italian sand which, not sourdough. Also the side of potatoes were not fully cooked and hard.For a $30 meal, I expected much more out of the quality and service. When ordering, the woman with black hair had a weirdattitude. It was raining so my boyfriend went to the window and grabbed our food. But even with my phone number and name, shemade a big deal about it. We didn?t know. Ordered the muffuletta and was very disappointed. All spicy Italian meats no tapenade, not how a muffuletta should be. Instant... heartburn, inedible, not a muffuletta. Contacted Charlie?s and got no response. 3 stars based on other sandwiches beingdecent. Read more
first time trying Charlie?s. found the restaurant on uber eats but ended up ordering delivery directly through Charlie?s... website. My order had a few mods and they were followed through perfectly. Delightfully crunchy yet soft bread, super freshproduce and meats. Cannoli was ???????????????? I will definitely be coming back to Charlie?s whenever I visit Portland! Read more
Old fashion place that is showing its years; could use a fresh coat of paint and some updates, but that's not why someone comes... here! I ordered a Pastrami Reuben sandwich which was very good! I thought the bread was really good too; locally made and fresh.I ordered my sandwich with German potato salad which was done nicely. I saw locals enjoying this hidden jem and saw lots of takeout too. Jukebox was playing some classic music but I thought it was a bit loud (I looked up to see i was right under theceiling speaker). Expensive soggy sandwiches. To pick up your soggy sandwich, you must find a parking spot, walk up to their pick up window, call... their number and be at the mercy of whomever picks up (rain or shine),. There is no way to leave a voicemail, so if they don?tpick up your call, you have wait for an indefinite amount of time and keep calling and calling until a rude, annoyed voice picksup and asks you what you want. You tell them you are there to pick up your sandwich you ordered (and paid almost $30 for), likemost of the people who call must have said. They question your intentions, short with you, speak quickly and do not trust you.Then after the lengthy process of picking up food, you get home and discover the sandwich is soaking in mayo, there?s no way toeat it without all the contents sloping out with each bite you take. The flavor is ok, but I could only eat half of the wholesandwich because it mainly tasted of buttery mayo. The whole experience was very strange. Read more
