Excellent whiskey dive, though it?s hardly a ?dive? when it?s in a Victorian house. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable,... they have some unique whiskeys on hand and a patron card catalogue. Read more
The atmosphere and building are very cool. Was a little disappointed at the relatively small (in my opinion) selection of... specialty Bourbons for a "Bourbon Lounge". I have been to many establishments that specialize in Bourbon, and was hoping for awider selection here. The food was good, try the Hushpuppies! Read more
Great place for a bite to eat and/or drink before the timbers game. Expect it to take at least an hour if you're getting... food. It is about 6 blocks from the stadium so plan accordingly. Highly recommend getting the hush puppies. They wereexcellent with the bourbon sauce. Sorry to photo. Pork sliders and fried chicken sandwich was great too. We really wanted to like this place.. we have had this spot saved for a while and finally went on a date to try it out. First... impression when we walked in was, this is a cool looking spot, nice ambiance. The woman who dropped off the menus was not veryfriendly. Then we sat and waited quite some time before our server stopped by. We ordered the brown derby, the hot shot toddy,hummus plate and Mac and cheese to start. The best part was the pita bread and hummus. The pita bread texture was on point. Theservice was not good at all. The gentleman who served us was very transactional and honestly, due to his lack of customerservice, we didn?t end up ordering anything else and left earlier than planned. I love Pope House! It?s such a chill place to head to after work and wind down. They have SO MANY bourbons on the menu, I?ve... started my own bourbon card (every time you try a different one, the name goes on your card until you hit 50 to fill it up andthen they place a horseshoe plaque with your name on it on the wall?I *will* get my plaque up there one day!) The mac & cheeseis sooooo good! I love the shredded pork sliders (touch on the spicy side but well worth the mouth burn). The Brussels sproutsare so good, one of my friends begs me to pick some up for him every time we go. And the staff is SO FRIENDLY! It?s an allaround great atmosphere and is one of my favorite bars in Portland. Read more
My husband and I enjoyed our visit. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. Their happy hour is outstanding. Try a whiskey... sour during happy hour! Their bourbon selection is pretty great, my bourbon hound husband was impressed. As far as food goes,the pork sliders were excellent. Read more
