I went here for the first time during restaurant week where you get three course. For my first course I got Braised Escargots... and roasted Brussels sprouts in chorizo cream sauce. I had never had escargot before and didn’t know what to expect when itcame out, but they were already out of shell and mixed into the cream cause with Brussel sprouts and these were excellent. Thecreams sauce was amazing and really brought everything together. For the second dish I got the Mustard-crusted MFF RibeyeMedallion with potato purée. This dish felt very simple but was very tasty and the mashed potatoes and root vegetables were anice addition. For the dessert I got the cheese board and it was also good but only included a small portion of cheese. Read more

This is our favorite place in Portsmouth New Hampshire. If you like martinis you got to get the signature martini. I love eating... upstairs with a brick in the wood, I feel like George Washington's going to walk in any minute and have a beer with us. Theservice is good the food is good and we love it there. We eat there every time we're in Portsmouth. Best to call for areservation this place is very popular Read more

It's difficult to give this restaurant anything less than a 5 star rating. The dishes are creative, well prepared, delicious,... well portioned and not egregiously priced. What more could you want? Bar was a little slow but we got a seat upstairs near thewindow and what a view! I hadn't been in that space since the Blue Strawberry closed and the decor hasn't changed much but itdoesn't need to. It's definitely a worthy successor to that restaurant. Only downside is an uninspiring dessert menu but withall of Portsmouth outside who cares? Read more

Overall a good experience. The first course (dumplings) were unfortunately entirely burnt on the bottom and on half of the tops.... Our Cabernet was amazing and paired so well with our cheese board. The goat and cheddar were amazing! Loved the pickled veggieson the size. Staff was a bit behind, but we were able to sneak in on a busy Saturday night. Read more

I would be tripping over superlatives to describe the ambiance and excellence of the menu on offer here. The meals are creative... without being pretentious, which means the ingredients have been thoughfully choreographed and assembled into dishes that trulyhave a Wow factor. Pretty much everything seems appetizing and tempting. Same with their cocktails. But more unusually theirexcellent menu is (possibly) even surpassed by the cozy, subtly stunning atmosphere of the space itself. Red brick greetscranberry coloured walls. Harbour views in the distance merge with wood panelled windows and floors, and amber candlelightreflects off of copper-top tables. Is this paradise? If they had a corner to rent out, I'd move in in a flash. On top of allthat, the staff are so A1 friendly and helpful, as well as professional and almost preternaturally efficient, this place reallyseems to be cut from heaven's cloth (at least when we visited in June 2022). Bless this gem! And I didn't even start to go onabout the street on which it's located, likely the most charming in a town filled with charming streets. Read more

What a beautiful restaurant! If you're interested in trying new and interesting foods prepared by an excellent chef, this is the... place. The view of the water was beautiful from our upstairs table, the service was outstanding, and the food was absolutelydelicious. And of course Ceres Street is so quaint, a lovely area of Portsmouth with art galleries, tugboats, and shopping. Havebeen wanting to try the Black Trumpet forever and so glad we finally got the chance! Read more

The menus are refreshed every 4-6 weeks keeping a new rotation of seasonal items on the menu. We took advantage of dishes with... root vegetables since that’s in season right now and I had the best goat tagine ever! The veggies were so full of flavor andthe stew was delicious! I also had the pollock from Maine which was perfectly cooked. Our servers were very friendly andattentive. We really enjoyed our time here and will come back again! Photos of just the appetizers since my phone ran out ofbattery. Read more

What a delightful eating experience! So many amazing dishes that all seamed a bit different than the norm which was wonderful!... Small indoor, but 2 stories in an old building with a lot of character, but the food steals the show. We ordered a lot bc it allsounded so good and each dish was a treat to the taste buds. Wish we lived near so we could eat there all the time! Read more
