First off, the popover with scrambled eggs was worth every penny! The eggs were light and fluffy (and so was the popover, come... to think of it!). Now, a brief rant. Why don?t places selling espresso drinks have their employees use thermometers forsteaming milk? Using your hand to ?feel? the temperature of the milk is really inaccurate! Restaurants pay a decent buck fortheir espresso setups and customers are willing to pay a premium price for their beverage, but way too often the drink is toohot or too cold. (That lasted longer than I thought it would!) So, come for the popovers and we?ll see what happens with thelatte. Read more
Great breakfast! We had no idea what we were walking into and found a great breakfast experience. I had a loaded popover which... was a flaky hallow pastry loaded with potatoes, eggs and bacon. Real good start to our day. Read more
The toughest decision I?ve had to make at Popovers is whether to go with the breakfast sandwich or a popover as they are both so... delicious. Popovers bakery is absolutely amazing! I have ordered my daughter?s birthday cakes every year from them and I am always blown... away by the outcome! The chocolate cream pie and the key lime pie we bought for Pi Day were both very delicious! I'm excited to try the snickerdoodle... cookie I also bought. The staff were very helpful and friendly, they even sliced our pies when we took them to-go. They had lotsof great cakes on display. Stopped in for breakfast around 10AM on a Sunday morning. The treats behind the counter looked really good, but for our first... visit we were looking to just grab something quick for breakfast. We were going to order two eggs benedict, and were told theyonly had enough to make one?which was kind of surprising, and disappointing. We ordered the one and ordered an egg and cheesesandwich with bacon instead. For the price we paid, the egg sandwich was so small. It tasted good, but I was definitely stillhungry. Buttery popover, great and cozy atmosphere, wonderful service - my time at Popovers On the Square was the highlight of my... Portsmouth trip. I got the scrambled eggs in a popover with American cheese - it came out hot, the eggs were silky smooth, andit popover was light and flaky. The dining room (and bathroom) was super clean, modern in decor, and well organized /COVID-safe. Everyone I interacted with was super pleasant and happy to be there. I was there with my puppy and was able to enjoysitting outside. It was pretty busy, but I didn't have to wait for a table outdoors. I do wish I got some more to try, so I'lldefinitely be coming back the next time i am in Portsmouth. Read more
Crème brûlée was beautifully crisp on top and had a lovely textured and flavorful custard inside. The fresh fruit added so... much to this dish! Chocolate chip cookies were tasty, but definitely would?ve preferred a less crumbly type of cookie with asoft, gooey inside.. and add more chocolate to the cookie/chip ratio. Staff was informative about unique dessert types ondisplay and provided friendly service. Read more
