Decided to try the Tall Ship which comes with a lobster roll and their famous seafood chowder. I’m not a super huge fan of... seafood but when “in Rome” you gotta try! The roll was pretty good and the seafood chowder I can see why it’s awardwinning. You literally can taste all the different seafood elements. We did start our meal with calamari and the Jameson GingerMule which was ???????????? Read more

Spent a night in Portsmouth, NH and ate at the River House. It was on our list of must try places to eat based on google reviews... that we read. We went during the summer, ate outside on the upstairs outdoor patio that overlooked the water. We started with abowl of Seafood chowder, was not your average chowder. Nice and creamy with shrimp, lobster, clams & haddock. Was so full offlavor! For entrees we had River House Steak Tips w/mashed potatoes and asparagus. OH- MY!!! So tender and full of flavor andthe mashed potatoes were equally delicious! New England Baked Haddock- I’m not usually a fan of haddock. I guess I’ve justnever tried one that was prepared so well! Was prepared with a shrimp and Romano Panko cheese crust and then oven baked, Yummy! The lobster roll was a decent size with good size chunks and very tasty! I just wished for the price of $45 there was a littlemore meat. Waffles fries were very tasty, seasoned well and cooked just right. Will definitely dine here again. I just wouldorder two of the steak tip dinners for what I paid for the lobster roll. It was that good!!! Read more

Nice little spot right on the water. Request to sit outside on the deck if you can (it is covered and heated so it’s... comfortable anytime you go)! The 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the food. While everything is pretty tasty, the lobster rollis nothing to write home about (lobster was bland and roll was toasted too long) and the seafood chowder is too salty. It isalso pretty expensive— market price for lobster when we visited was $50 for a single lobster roll. This is significantlyhigher than other waterfront seafood spots nearby. However, this is all relative as it was all fresh and still tasted fine! Theyhave a great selection of food and adult beverages so I recommend everyone give it a try if you’re in the area. Read more

River House is a casual American seafood restaurant. There’s a lot of outdoor seating right by the water. I wasn’t too... impressed with the food. It lacked flavor and portions were small. If anything you go here to eat the fried seafood. Staff arenice though! Read more

I went here with friends yesterday and we all had a great time. Great spot for food and drinks by the water. Nice place to try... if you're visiting Portsmouth. They have an outdoor deck and balcony perfect for the good weather we've had lately. Their Frosé(frozen rosé) was delicious. We shared oysters and chicken tenders as appetizers. We ate every bite! I had the steak tips withmashed potatoes and asparagus. Another person tried the "tall ship" (lobster roll with chips and chowder). It was all tasty andgood quality. Highly recommend for a nice meal by the water. Range of foods and price points so everyone can leave happy. Ourserver was very friendly and checked in with us multiple times. Will definitely visit again! Read more

The lobster and artichoke dip was great. The haddock sandwich was so fresh and delicious. The shrimp and clam plate was so good... too and a generous portion. Staff was really nice. Beautiful view off the deck where we sat on a gorgeous day. Read more

The service was quick and friendly. We had a party of 7(no reservations required) and were seated within a few minutes. Surf &... Turf and Lobster Mac & Cheese was amazing! Perfectly balanced without the “seafood taste” you get sometimes. The view wascool with some tug boats outside. Read more

We had great service! Called ahead, but didn't need to, as we got there around 8pm. I have a gluten allergy and the bartender... answered all of my questions. The menu is clearly labeled for gluten free options as well! My fisherman's platter wasDELICIOUS. My boyfriend loved the connolis, especially the chocolate one. Would definitely go back! Read more
