Very nice staff. We arrived at meal time without a reservation, but they managed to seat is anyway. That was just the start of a fine dining experience. All the menu items we chose were freshly prepared be experienced living hands and served graciously by skilled staff. We were treated like honored guest on someone's home. What more can I say?
Sal and Oliver were great! We had the artichoke appetizer (garlic!), the Italian salad (lots of good stuff), and the creamy Gorgonzola gnocchi with walnuts. Good size portions on the latter two dishes. We ate out on the patio, and the fresh air was wonderful.
Food is delicious. Come here all the time for take out. Decided to dine in and as expected, food was DELICIOUS. However, the particular server we had, left a bad taste in my mouth. Explained the specials, sounded lovely, took our drink order, came back took our food order, delivered drinks delivered food. All pretty typical. But that was it. Never came back til everyone had already gone and I was just left to sit here and write this review. Bummer on the first time dine in experience. Won?t deter me from coming back either. Place is super good and up until now I thought the prices were fair. But the service is lacking big time. Check em out tho; maybe you?ll have a better experience. I?ll update this on my next visit if the experience improves.
Had a great experience at this restaurant. We were seated right away, our order was taken as soon as we were ready and everything came out as quickly as possible. However where they truly went above and beyond was when I mispronounced/misspoke my dish when ordering so there was a miscommunication. Then when it came out and was not what I thought I ordered they were so very kind to switch it to exactly what I wanted without any issues which made me feel extremely appreciative of their understanding for their customers. The staff is very attentive and kind. You will feel welcome and enjoy a great meal. We had the pepperoni pizza, lasagna bolognese and the eggplant parmigiana. Every dish was excellent. Definitely give them a try if you?re looking for authentic Italian. I?m glad I found them after moving from NY and missing all of my favorites.
Not sure what all the fuss is about? I am extremely surprised by all the praise for this restaurant? Perhaps it is different when you dine in. The website states traditional Italian food, more like traditional 'American Italian' food. Either people are extremely hungry and love anything they swallow or not well traveled. As far as my experience goes; I called a take out order. The guy answered and said sure what would you like, oh actually can you please hold. Got back on phone and hung up. I called again, asked if I could hold. Another guy picked up and received my order. Fine. My best friend picked up the meal, said the place was hopping and the atmosphere seemed fun. Nice. Now most importantly the food; The Pollo Parmigiana was basic, the side of mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box, and the best part of the dish were the vegetables. The meat lasagna definitely had a nice blend of cheese but you would have to search for the meat inside. Finally the gnocchi was decently cooked but the sauce was common. In fact when it comes to the sauce on all 3 dishes, they all seemed to be watery without any delicious texture whatsoever. I am quite surprised by all of the reviews claiming how amazing and delicious the food was? I tasted nothing but too much salt in every bite and not enough Italian flare, American or otherwise. Having family in Long Island NY and familiar with many cities in Italy and Sicily, this is NOT traditional. My best friend asked the next day if I wanted any of the leftovers. My response; is that some sort of sick joke?! You want authentic and delicious 'Italian' food in San Diego, go to The Godfather on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Trust.
I ordered the osso bucco (off the menu). My husband ordered the eggplant parmesan. Our meals & service were out of this world. Excellent. Great! 10 stars. So is the house Chianti & the tiramisu. Soup to nuts a 5 star meal for 2 star prices. Do not hesitate. The ambiance! The "you are family". Priceless. A true gem in Del Mar.
The food was fine though it was more expensive than I felt it should have been for the quality. We will probably not go back. The Veal Piccata had way too much flour and the pesto separated to an oily mess before we were even done. We didn't even get the wine which was minium $12 a glass for some whatever house red. I did enjoy the tiramisu.
WOW !!! AMAZING Food, Fantastic Service and Great Value. WoW !! This place is awesome. Yes you must go to Villa Capri, it is really that good. We just moved to this area and in less than a month we have visited this restaurant 3 times. Me and my family love good food and have done fair share of travelling . The food here is like taking a trip to Italy. Everything tastes fresh and full of flavors. From the first time we came here, we felt like we are guests in there house. Service is fast and friendly. We have tried many items from the menu and so far nothing has disappointed us . My wife loves the Salmone ai Carciofin , she said its out of the world. My favorite is Seafood Penne Elena. On the side note its hard to please my kids but they absolutely love this place. Thank you Anthony and family for running a great restaurant and making us feel like home, we really appreciate it. See you soon !! Grazie!!
