The room we stayed in, #9, was very cozy. Had everything we needed for a one night stay. Somerset county's water does have a... brown hue to it but it's normal and is not harmful nor the inn's fault. They give you plenty of bottled water in the room if youdon't feel comfortable with the tap water. My boyfriend and I ate at the tavern and it was AMAZING! The building is super old, built before america was born, so the stairs and certain areas of the floor are slanted, which is to be expected. Heard thisplace is haunted so we'll have to see! Would 100% stay again! Read more

Did not stay at the inn. We did eat at the restaurant. 6 people. Every water glass we had was dirty. Complimentary bread seemed... fresh, olives oil that came with it heavily seasoned and not an appealing flavor. Ordered calamari, crab dip, and crab soup forappetizers. Calamari was under cooked. Crab soup had a good flavor but was not hot enough. Dip was good. Entrees were pasta withchicken, shrimp and grits, and a tavern burger. Shrimp and grits had a decent flavor, shrimp were well cooked and seasoned, grits were various temperature. Parts were hot and delicious, others were cool and lumpy. Burger was over cooked and lacking inflavor. I think the overcooking led to it being dry. Fries were adequate. Chicken pasta was good temperature but lacked flavor. Everyone picked out the chicken but ate minimal amount of pasta. Lacked flavor. Wine selection was good. Debbie, our server, wasa delight. We would not try again, but maybe we caught them on a bad night. For the money, should have been way better.Definitely not up to the expectations set by previous reviews. Read more

Room was a good size, but for being "recently" renovated the room was on the dirty side and the pillows smelled of musty body... oder that lingered on my hair and skin. This Inn is unmanned after 3:00 pm so you're on your own. The complimentary breakfastwas good as was the coffee. There was no refrigeration in the room and no ice machine in the Inn. Making the complimentarywater bottles in the room almost unbareable to drink on the 90+° day. We will look elsewhere for lodging on our next visit tothe Eastern shore. Read more

So close to 5 stars! Positives: Quaint, comfortable, best included breakfast( I had large blueberry pancakes, hubby had eggs,... bacon, home fries and toast) Look under sink for hair dryer, almost missed it. Negatives: Musty smell, flat thin pillows, tanwater in toilet and shower. Rugs were a cream color that have seen better days.Tavern closes at 8 on Fridays. Had to findsomewhere else to get a drink and eats. Caesar’s pizza down the road had the best pizza! Bottom line: we’d stay again. Read more

Was not sure what to expect. But to my surprise Everything was amazing. The atmosphere and setting placed me back to my... grandparents old Eastern Shore home I spent my childhood in every Summer. The Tavern was something else....To not be home andget home cooked food. Not to mention our server Tom...He needs a raise???? His service and friendliness will jeep that placegoing. I did not get the Lady bartenders name but she stirs up a mean drink...Made me feel right at home Hands down before Itry to stay at the Ocean I will take the 45 min ride there to sleep in peace and comfort as if i was home Read more

We stayed 2 nights in this historical hotel. Our room was spacious and clean. Breakfast each morning was made to order and was... delicious. We also enjoyed a wonderful dinner on our second night. Because this is a small town there are not a lot ofactivities to enjoy. However, the people we met there were friendly and delightful. Read more

Very odd little town. To be more fair I am adding more to this review. The room we rented, #2, was very clean and well kept. Our... nights sleep was comfortable and we enjoyed our room. Breakfast the next morning was average but a good start to our day. Thestaff was friendly. I've given the room and staff a 4 star but location is a 2 star for us. Read more

While this is a bit of an awkward place to stay because it is old and I couldn't get any air into the room, it was fun. It is... very charming and I enjoyed being somewhere with history. My favorite part was eating breakfast at the bar. Barbie was sowelcoming and friendly. There was another customer from out of town who stays there often and he was very friendly as well. Whenit was time to check out Jennifer was also very friendly and chatted with me for a while. It was refreshing that as a solotraveler I was treated so warmly. I felt like I was at home which is very rare for a hotel. This has been one of my favoriteplaces to visit! I will definitely be back again. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Read more
