The table waitstaff is wonderful, but the bartenders are certainly lacking. Definitely not friendly. I was not greeted for quite... some time, and when we were recognized, it seems like a bother to even pour us a drink. Just down right rude. Even worse tothe couple sitting next to me. So much so they leaned in and said it has been this way for a while. This was not the firsttime. Horrible. Keep in mind it was not busy. Same two bartenders. Male and female. So sad for such a great local restaurantto have these two individuals representing River City. We hope they make a change soon. This is my first review ever but Ifelt compelled as being a past restaurant owner myself. Sometimes as owners we get caught up and don?t realize the very face ofour establishment is being ruined. Comfortable cafe atmosphere. Friendly staff. Varied menu and wine list. Offer gluten-free food choices. Prices are moderate for... the most part. Delightful from A to Z. Very nice and clean Restaurant in the heart of Punta Gorda. A friendly greeting at the entrance sets the... tone. Explaining the options between two restaurants, inside or outside seating. Or if just in the mood for a handcraftedcocktail, a long Bar to the right of the entrance seem to be the right place to be. Service is professional and friendly. Thechoices on the menu balanced between land and sea. We tried 2 appetizers, both the shrimp and calamari were perfectly prepared.The Madagascar Shrimp as main course were the right choice, and not quite as spicy as anticipated. Scallop special with maple butter was delicious. the pasta shrimp was great too. our friend said the beef was ok. I found the... atmosphere a little dark and dreary. Recommend to sit outside. Great downtown Punta Gorda restaurant. The City River Grill, and Italia, are joined retaurants. The food is excellent. The menu... perfect for this style American restaurant. The Italia has a Italian food menu and is different from the Grill side. Theservers are friendly and efficient. The decor suits the restaurant style. The only gripe we had is that the booths are small. A large person would not fit. One of the top rated restaurants in Punta Gorda with a well deserved reputation. Read more
Went there for dinner last night with friends. We?re headed to another restaurant and hear good things so stopped here... instead. A couple of things to know about RC 1. Boom Boom shrimp Appetizer was very good. A different subtle boom boom saucethat was wonderful 2. I and my friend had the schnitzel and really liked it 3. Over priced and not much flavor. Wine menu was decent but that was it. Decor needs updating carpet is a bad look for 2022.
