We came across bome cheese at lunch time and decided on a lark to stop in at the cafe. The grilled cheese and salad were so... amazing. The staff member was super helpful and friendly and to top off our lunch a bald eagle came and roosted on a douglasfir. If you are in the area you would be remiss to not stop in and check it out and take home a tub or round of the spicedshepherd spread. Read more

Fantastic food! This is the first time I've been to this cafe. Nice setting, great service, reasonable prices. Everything is... made from scratch. Cheese is outstanding. I had some cheese and the pork donair. Definitely will return to buy some frozenfood :) Read more
Family owned business schnitzel was good not overly battered and perfectly cooked. The soup of the day which was butternut... squash was delicious. You can taste the homeyness of the cooking. Nothing super out there but if you want home cooked Germanfood this is the place to be. Friendly staff! Read more
A small, focussed menu with what appears to be some German classics. Very quaint farmhouse like feel on the inside. The owner... there was very friendly and helpful. A pork fan / cheese hater in our party order the schnitzel sandwich (lack of choice) andactually gave it a thumbs up so that is REALLY high praise. Really good tomato soup, another member in our party commented thatthe last time they had something this good was back in Belgium. The spaetzle was not what we expected at all but really good,not just the usual spaetzle and not like Italian pasta at all. Also had the goulash, which was also not what we expected butvery yummy. Careful to save room for dessert, we had a chocolate cake and also whipped cheesecake. My oh my were we spoiled! Thechocolate cake was quite "heavy" but we never got sick of eating it unlike the usual places and the whipped cheesecake wassomething else! Very highly recommended! Blink and you'll miss it, but you'll be sorry you did! A hidden gem right near Coombs on Vancouver island. Best Grilled cheese... sandwich I have ever had, and the cheesecake and Pork Schnitzel sandwich were very good too! Very friendly staff and veryreasonable prices! Recommended by a friend who grew up in the Coombs area and stopped in here for lunch. We loved German food and all things cheese... so naturally we loved it. The German lady owner/operator that greeted us was so warm and lovely. The atmosphere was definitelyGerman, clean, and well thought out. Not the most kid friendly as we have 3 kids (no high chair and expensive china and retailwithin their reach) but we will be back again! Read more
