Quebec classic, stop here while your on the TransCanada highway. You won't regret it
I was recommended to this place a few days ago when I asked where I could find a good poutine in Quebec City. I grabbed a... regular poutine and simple burger to try out their staples. I was unaware that Ashton is unlike other fast food restaurants astheir food does not come with fries or a drink as part of the meal. This made the price a little too steep for my liking andhit me as a bit of a surprise. I think the poutine was $10 and the burger was just about $8. The cheese curds were okay. Ihonestly expected more as you hear that Quebec prides itself as being inventors and masters of the poutine and this one wasnowhere near the top 10 or 20 of poutines I have tried. Don't get me wrong - the meal is okay. Given a choice of anywhere elseand going here again - I would choose to always try somewhere else first before going back here. The store itself was ratherclean and they had a handful of staff working and I did get my food quite fast as it was all made fresh after I ordered it.Seemingly did lack flavor and for the price you could easily go somewhere else and get a full meal and leave more full andhappy. Had our first Ashton! Was told by a montrealer that Ashton has the best poutine. We don?t have one here, so we got a sampler of... everything while on the road. The poutine was indeed good, love the squeeze cheese! Enjoyed the burger and the beef sandwich aswell, just we found the bread was too ?bready?, otherwise it was enjoyable. Good food (never frozen beef) but their poutine sizes are tiny. Being known in the Quebec city region for being the best poutine... place and even though their poutine is good, I would not agree that it is the BEST in town... Read more
Classic poutine restaurant for an authentic experience. Not that much toppings selection (only hot-dogs and ground beef). Sizes... are pretty big and fries are good. Read more
