Really beautiful atmosphere. Definitely an upscale look with a gorgeous view. Hamburgers were tasty and generous portions. The... sauce was excellent The burger was also good, but the bun was pretty average. I rated four stars for food because the pasta was$18 and really it was pretty small at that price point. It was definitely delicious though. I'm came with plenty of shrimp. Iwas surprised that for a brewery there's not more selection on tap.. Really sweet waitress did a fantastic job. Read more

Check your expectations and then ratchet them down two more notches. First the positive, the facility is beautiful, has a nice... view of Radford, and the food was good. Our group was large so the diversity of dishes at our table spanned a large portion ofthe menu and everything was prepared accurately and as properly. Now the negative. Multiple beers posted on the daily boardwere not available?at a brewery! The bar also closed at 8:30 on a Saturday night?a member of our party stepped away from herdrink for a moment to say farewell and the bar tender tossed both her drinks. Last, the customer service was not good. I?llconcede we were a large group, I?ll also acknowledge the signage posted throughout the facility stating a shortage of staff. That being said, our party was split into one eight person party and another nine person party. Our party of nine waited over anhour before being served their food. Note, they ordered almost 25 minutes before the remainder of our party which was seatedafter them, ordered after them, and then finished our meal before they were even served. When we brought this to management?sattention, there were multiple excuses but little ownership or remedy to the problem. Clearly they were placing our large tableof young adults at a lower priority in the kitchen?s workflow?can you say guaranteed 20% for parties over eight? Whateverthey?re just college kids, take care of the other tables first, right? Bad form and a bad taste in our mouthes that meansthey?ll never see our business again. Dine and drink here at the risk discovering a true rarity here in the south?the exactopposite of southern hospitality. Read more

First of all, this does have food and their own brews, but far from a brewery! I think they had three choices from their own and... the remainder from their distributor for national brands, when we were there. This is more of a restaurant, menu is not huge, but a fair selection. The beer was a little sharp on the MBAT scale, tolerable but way over what I prefer. The food was good, nothing to write home about, though! Three stars = average! For those not familiar with the MBAT Scale, I devised this many, many years ago before the big brewery boom in the US with a friend. Everytime we tried a locally brewed beer in a newestablishment, the beer would have a very stringent and harsh bitterness after you take a sip. It hits the back of your throatand tends to be in all the particular establishments brews. The River Company "Restaurant" and Brewery have an MBAT of 7, scaleof 1-10. All beers will have some, and of course hoppier beers have a slightly higher normal rating of 4-6, but should notlinger in the back as this does, at least the batch we had when we were there. Group of 6, 4 on one check and 2 on the other. 3 had 1 drink, all had steak. Total about $250. They automatically added 20%... gratuity. Most steaks were not cooked to order. Salads were small, and they were out of at least 1 beer. I dont mind payingfor a good steak and meal, but to me this was way over priced for what we got. Service was ok, but not great. Most restaurantswill ask you to check your steak before they leave, not here. Would go back for beer and snacks, but not for steak. I thinkthis place is on the verge of going out of business. We were there around 5:30 to 6:30 on a Wednesday, and maybe 3 tables withpatrons. Has potential though just need to get someone who knows how to cook a steak to order, and some better wait staff. They had a banquet of some sort going on yesterday in their lower level. We arrived at 4PM when the upper level was not busy.... Waitress was good, explained food nicely, took order. Then we waited over an hour. Turns out the kitchen couldn't handle ourorder on top of the banquet. Food was cold when it came. IPA beer was good. On the way out we noted that they had put up a handprinted sign explaining that they were way behind on their orders. No one ever explained or apologized to us. Read more

The good: Friendly staff, food came out quickly. The bad: tiny side salads, small steaks, "loaded" potato is not (see pictures),... expensive for what you get, limited menu. $2 upcharge to make your potato "loaded" but it's really a sprinkle of cheese with afew flakes of bacon bits. Read more
