Omg! The food and cocktails here are amazing!! We tried a little of everything. We got there early enough to enjoy the happy... hour oysters, and an oyster shot!! The sailboat sampler was to die for, lots of delicious seafood but, the octopus was the starof that dish for me. The ceviche and papas were also yum. The dessert (Suspiro) was unique and did not disappoint. The ambiancewas very fitting with the menu and the staff was very attentive and made awesome suggestions. We will be returning to this spot!Cortez is a definite must try if you’re on Glenwood! Read more

This gem takes Latin flavors and marries them to seafood and creates an elevated experience like no other. From the “weed”... butter right to the caramel coated Churro doughnut, your taste buds will thank you for introducing you to Cortez. You’d neverguess it but they also have one of the best burgers you’ll have in Raleigh. But don’t take my word for it, go see foryourself. They’re also known to mix some unique and whimsical drinks. If you’re in downtown Raleigh put them in your listof places to eat. It’s one of my top 10! Read more

Cortez and it’s fresh seafood and delicious cocktails make for a great meal! We ordered the Cortez Sailboat, featuring... grouper, coctel mixto of oysters and shrimp, raw oysters, peel and eat shrimp, and octopus (pulpo) and loved every bite. TheSmoked NC Papas were also a perfect small plate, taking a humble potato and brightening it up. For dessert, we had both theChurro and the Suspiro, a meringue and berry dessert; both were perfect finales to our dinner. The Yuze It or Lose It and BidiBidi Bom Bom were both great cocktails. I have a soft spot for places like this—places that take simple, fresh ingredientsand give them opportunities to shine. The only downside to a place that depends on fresh and seasonal ingredients is that themenu can change often. More reason to try it often! Read more

I was looking for a nice place to eat in Raleigh downtown… my google search recommend me this place. Said is a seadfood place... and sounds a good choice. The restaurant hace a great atmosphere, gay friendly and the decoration super nice. People is verycourtesy and the customer service is good. We decidedly took the table out side but the evening is too much hot today. Irequested a fan ( like the other customers out side enjoyed) but the girls of the front desk let me know the outlet close to iswas out of services too. I need to clarify we was touring to the table … in this situation I request drink a “michelada”and burgers . The menu is very simple. Honestly nothing really relevant. Fries with in too much oil and sogginess… burgersmall. For sure next time I’m going following my instincts.. is a nice place for a date but if your looking for impress, thisnot the place Read more

Delicious food, great service, fun music/atmosphere, and beautiful decor. We came for an anniversary dinner and had a great... experience! I started with the mango yuza margarita and shared a half dozen oysters (very affordable with happy hour pricing). They all tasted great- cold and fresh. For our meal we shared the papas (AMAZING), ceviche (very flavorful and tasty) and tunatartare (the only thing that was meh). Overall we had a great meal and will definitely be back to try more! A fantastic meal on a Friday night at this spot on foodie-heaven Glenwood Avenue. It's a storefront shop, with 18 tables and... half dozen bar seats inside plus another 10 or so tables on the sidewalk-turned-patio. The interior is eclectic, lots and lotsof plants including a gorgeous live plant wall at the back. Service is excellent. Reservation honored to the minute. Ourserver, Stephanie, did great work - explained the menu, made some recommendations and paced the meal perfectly. Thankyou! Started with some sangria. A fruity red blend, this house-special concoction includes a couple of shots (maybe bourbon, maybe vodka - I can't remember). Beautifully garnished with an orange slice and including one of those awful paper straws.(Sorry, environment - plastic straws are superior). Tried a couple of the small plates, and one of the large plates. Startingwith charred octopus. A 6-inch grill-charred tentacle is served atop a concoction of butter beans, peas, black eyed peas, parmesan butter and sprinkled with chives. Don't get hung up on the appearance of the octopus... it's really delicious. Firm, vaguely calamari-like in texture and taste. The accompanying beans concoction is outstanding. The sauce is perfectly spiced(garlicky), the beans the ideal texture. Yum! Next, tried Gambas al Ajillo (garlic shrimp). 6 tail-on butterflied shrimp aregorgeously broiled and served in a luscious garlic-butter lemon sauce. Shrimp have a nice crisp snap to the bite. And thatsauce! Perfect to dip the accompanying baguette. Also had chargrilled oysters. 6 oysters, smokily char-grilled then topped withpanko, shredded prosciutto, shards of red onion and parmesan cheese. Then broiled to crunch up the top and slathered with garlicbutter. WOW! Not the slurping kind of oysters, but these are excellent. Lastly, tried Pinche Carne Asada. 4 slices of perfectmedium rare steak are served over a melange of broccoli, mushrooms sauteed in tallow, topped with a broiled green onion and Read more

Perfect music and decor. Delicious cocktails and oysters but I would skip the cheeseburger as it's nothing special. But the... steak, shrimp, and mussels were well seasoned and filling! Read more
