Reviews for Kai Sushi & Sake Bar in Raleigh, NC

Would not recommend. The reviews really led me astray here. I thought it was going to be so good but it so wasn?t. I guess... people like it because the portions are huge and they give complimentary edamame to the table? Even so, it?s not worth theprice. We came late on a Saturday night and they were obviously busy so the host took our name and number and said he would callus. We sat in our car to wait. No big deal we were willing to wait. After an hour of waiting, an hour before they close, we wereworried we might not be seated before they close and would need to make alternate dinner plans so we came back to the hoststand. He was not there, and the restaurant was half empty. We saw he had crossed our name off the list, even though he nevercalled us. The guy was super unprofessional, clearly more interested in gossiping with his coworker than doing his job, and hadhis earbuds on and was the only staff member not wearing a staff shirt. Not off to a great start for service. He gestured to atable for us to sit and we waited 10 minutes watching the staff chit chatting around the bar before anyone even brought uswater. We ordered right away because we had spent the time in the car looking at the menu. We watched tables who were seatedafter us get their food before us. When our food came, it was nothing like the menu described. Allegedly there was avocado andcucumber in the Spider roll but I couldn?t find it. We flagged a waitress down to get the check because again, the staff wasjust not paying attention to the tables at all. Read more

Kai is one of the better options to get sushi in Raleigh. I prefer getting the nigiri here rather than the rolls. (I recommend... the eel). A number of the rolls have cream cheese, which I tend to avoid, but the fish taste fresh. Overall, I always get a goodmeal here but it is pricey and sometimes there?s a long wait to get a table. I would consider myself a sushi enthusiast and in the Raleigh area, Kai is my favorite sushi spot. It?s not the cheapest sushi... but it?s not overly expensive for the quality. I like that they have a wide variety of sushi rolls and have not beendisappointed with any I?ve ordered. The appetizers are pretty good too. I?ve been a few times and the service is fine as well. Very good sushi! Went on a Wednesday and they had a nice patio, no wait to sit surprisingly and 3 large rolls for $35. Staff was... friendly! Read more

Indoor and outdoor seating accompanied by friendly staff and amazing food. Hands down the seaweed salad and Black Panther sushi... roll was absolutely delicious! They have specials on by more than one roll like the 5 for $55. The service was quick andprofessional, amazing place! Read more

If you were to ask me where to get the best sushi in Raleigh, I would immediately say Kai with zero hesitation. I discovered... this restaurant with my family a couple years ago & no matter how many new places I try, they just don?t compare. With amazing 3& 5 roll specials, the Crazy K & Shrimp Tempura rolls are always my go to. Their flavor combinations are harmonious with theperfect rice to filling ratio & sauces. The Piano, Angry Tuna, & Dark Knight are also other notable rolls loved by friendswho?ve tried Kai per my recommendation. This is the place that made me realize I actually enjoy raw fish & the place my grandpaordered from every single day for a year straight until he passed from cancer. The one flaw I would say is that their phoneservice is always busy & you have to call around 30 times in a row just to get through (sometimes more). I don?t mind, however, because I believe their food is worth it. This is a restaurant that you find yourself randomly craving & thinking about. Here?sto many more rolls???? Read more

Cheaply made sushi and not good! We got 4 rolls and didn?t like any of them. The rolls that had ?crab? were stuffed with... disgusting fake Krab and hardly any of the other stuff that was supposed to be in the roll. Oh and we waited over an hour forour rolls while other random tables got theirs when we were sat before them. The table next to us had also been waiting for along time and complained as well. We will never try this place again! Grocery store sushi is better than anything we got here! Read more

This is my favorite sushi spot in the triangle. I?ve tried several places, many recommended, but this one is the one I keep... wanting to come back to. Their prices are very reasonable and the sushi is perfect. In the past five years I?d say I?ve beenhere about 20+ times (dine in and take out) and I have never once had a bad experience. The variety of sushi is nice and thequality is always very high and prepared to perfection. Service has never been a problem either. Indoor and outdoor dining islovely, with a good vibe to the place for something casual or a nice night out. I?m a repeat customer and will continue to be! Read more
