Found this restaurant after reading rave reviews as it was voted 2022 Best Greek/Mediterranean cuisine located in Ramsey.... Reservation was made easy by going onto Open Table a couple of days ago for dinner tonight and glad we did. Upon arrival, theplace was packed with patrons but our table was ready on time. The atmosphere is upscale and the sparkling white table linensset the tone of fine dining. The menu offers some classic Greek items along with the freshest seafoods, steaks and salads. Myfriends and I began our meal with complimentary delicious warm crusty bread accompanied by small dishes of hummus, radishes, black olives and olive oil was brought by our server, Edgar. Since this is predominantly a seafood establishment, we ordered theLobster Gyros with cucumbers, tomato relish and mint tzatziki, Grilled Calamari and Build Your Own Seafood Tower consisting of 2dozen oysters and Jumbo Lump Crab Meat Cocktails as appetizers. For the lobster gyros, one could taste mostly the tzatzikisauce. For the calamari, it was cooked to perfection. The oysters I was told were one of the best tasting. For our entrees, wegot the Santorini Lobster with white wine and tomato broth topped with feta cheese accompanied with tomato, onion and green beansalad, Tonight’s Special - Grilled Seabass with potatoes and Grilled Organic Salmon with Orzo cherry tomatoes, broccoli rabe.Hands down our food was tasty, well seasoned and didn’t disappoint as it was conveyed to one of the managers, Stavros who cameby our table. Overall, the quality was just as good as any restaurant in NYC whose service was excellent. It can be a bit priceybut well worth the experience which we could recommend this place. Read more

First of all very expensive! My wife and I were there with another couple. We made reservations for the outdoor seating. When we... got there, they were not seating people outside. We were seated inside. OK we went along with it. We told the waiter that wewould like two separate checks for each couple. He said we can’t do that. We let that go too. However by the end of the dinnerthere was a 5 to 10 minute argument over what was what and he wanted his gratuity doubled. We explained to him a number of timesthat he was getting his 20% tip, on both couples bills. he didn’t understand. If he had just made two separate checks itwould NOT been a problem! If you want separate checks - demand to have two separate checks because they can’t figure it outotherwise. We finally settled and walked out! I’m not going there again. Read more

Great seafood restaurant for special occasions. We enjoyed the grilled octopus and shrimp cocktail appetizers. The octopus... (~$32) was very tender and the shrimp were huge ($9 per shrimp). For entrees, we had the angry lobster (~$60 or $70) and thespecial of the day, which was grilled sea bass (~$44). For dessert, we were recommended the Galacticbourico which was very good. It's a warm flaky dough wrapped around creme with orange zest & served with ice cream. The service was excellent and providednice recommendations. Would suggest being seated by a window as the back of the restaurant is quite dark. Since the food is verypricey, we couldn't come for just a quick lunch or something but if there is a birthday or celebration this is a good choice. Read more

Went here first time . Tuesday night and this place was packed ! Wowo ! No place to sit ! When looking at the menu it was... predominantly fish / sea food place . I saw just a couple of chicken items and few veggie . I think it’s mostly for sea foodlovers … My friends had fish / scallops/ octopus etc and they loved it . Grilled chicken was really tasty. Never had so muchjuicy chicken in other places. Fries were good . Appetizers were good too- spinach rolls , varka chips etc . 2 things - 1) it isexpensive . Not a daily restaurant.. chicken entreee costed about 35$ !!!! 2) Service could be better ! We hardly see peopletaking orders , with so much crowd. If not for both these negatives , it’s good ???? We went to Varka Fishhouse for lunch on my birthday. My husband ordered an Irish coffee. We then ordered two lunch prix fixe. My... husband ordered soup of the day, Greek Fisherman's Chowder, and I ordered spinach pie for the first course. We both ordered fishof the day with seasonal vegetables for the main course and Greek yogurt without honey for the dessert. My husband's soup wasfine while I didn't enjoy the spinach pie as it seemed way overdone. For the main course, we expected vegetables along with thefish as written in the menu. However, we got risotto with corn and parley sprinkled on top. When we asked the waiter who servedus that we thought it was seasonal vegetables on side as written in the menu, the waiter who sounded quite rude, told us that wewere already told by him that we would be getting risotto on the side and that corn is a vegetable. However, neither my husbandnor me remember him mentioning that. Finally, for the dessert, when the waiter was taking our order, he told we could take twodifferent desserts, loukoumathes and Greek yogurt, so we could share. However, since neither my husband nor me eat fried food oreven much of sweet stuff, we explicitly ordered Greek yogurt and without honey. He told us he would get honey on the sideinstead and we didn't bother with him. However, when the desserts were served, we received one Greek yogurt with honey and theother loukoumathes with side of honey. When we explained to the gentleman serving us that we ordered two Greek yogurts withouthoney, he went in and in sometime the waiter came dashing out with loukoumathes and Greek yogurt showing his notes saying thatis what we ordered. After a haggle, we finally got served Greek yogurt without honey. This lunch was $85 and with tips it was atotal of $100. For this price point, the service is just not acceptable. The waiters here seem so very rude and veryunwelcoming. Wish we chose another place and had better experience. Read more
