I am usually a very picky eater & when my friends suggested we go for tacos for lunch, I was mentally on the fence. But after... walking in & finding a large selection of options that WEREN'T your typical tacos,I was excited! I ordered a quesadilla & I washappy & excited that it didn't automatically include all the "extras" most taco places put in. (They're available if you wantthough) The cheese was plentiful & perfectly gooey!!! Horribly slow. It's been nearly 30 minutes since ordering chips, waffle fries, a burrito, a burrito bowl and two tacos. It's... basically fast casual with mostly prepped items and simple ingredients. Apparently nobody is expediting. There was only oneperson I'm line ahead of us, and the pickup/delivery rack is literally empty. 8:00 on a Monday isn't exactly peak rush time. Food is average and overpriced for what's basically just alternate brand Chipotle. I don't even like Chipotle and I'm wishingwe'd just gone there. I can't begin to imagine the unmitigated disaster a surge in orders must be for this kitchen. Had Iknown it would take this long is have ordered pickup. But I'll just avoid it altogether instead. For a chain that grew sofast, I'm baffled. Did they just adopt the move fast and break things model and grow with no systems in place to properlyscale? I cannot adequately describe the sheer incompetence required to make an order take this long. And we idiotically left a20% tip on the POS lolol. Literally if the line cooks all walked out they could have found, hired, and trained new ones in thetime it took to get this order out. It's insulting to think that anyone would wait this long for such mid food, let alone foodin general at a fast casual chain. Not even shake shack in Hoboken during peak times have I seen something this terrible. Justanother over-rated place in an over-rated town. Oh, and they forgot to bring the fries out. Read more
If I literally could give this a negative star I would the employees were literally all standing around laughing and doing... absolutely nothing when I went to order food on my lunch break, the people who work in this location are extremely rude and Idon?t know if they were just left unsupervised or if they just don?t care about doing the job, it?s sad when two out of itlooked like 6 employees were actually doing their job. I gave them the 2 stars because my kids like the bean and cheese burrito. Outside of that, the burritos keep getting pricier... and skimpier. I used to love the Jenks burrito, smothered. But they started shorting me on the chicken, and filling the burritowith rice. Today I ordered the buffalo soldier, and there was ONE piece of chicken. We used to eat this weekly but it isn?tworth it anymore. Read more
Food was super fresh and the employees were helpful. The restaurant and outdoor dining tables were very clean. It's a weird... thing to say but my only "complaint" is that the chicken tender tacos were too big to take a bite out of without being awkward(but that's a good problem to have). Read more
I love surf taco but it's always kind of a mess there. Hand sanitizer empty. posters up for a nacho special that day good for... the whole month of November (it's JUNE!). Makes me wonder how up to date their cleaning is... Food is pretty tasty though andwith the street closed off to cars it's a nice little area. Read more
A great addition to the family of fast food Mexican restaurants. The food was very fresh tasting and didn?t have the heavy... greasy feel of some Mexican places. I ordered a steak burrito bowl; the steak was good quality and had a significant portion. The guacamole was good and they offer a salsa bar. Finally the atmosphere is very inviting and festive. Edit. As of October 2022 Surf taco has started to bring back old favorites, including my beloved crispy taco. New menu change... stinks. Bring back the crispy taco!!!!! Read more
