We came from the west coast for a special occasion; we were married here in Red Wing 31 years ago. Our wedding reception was at... the St James Hotel/1988. This truly was MEMORY LANE! Gem of a restaurant in downtown Redwing. Started with a cheese platter. We chose the blue cheese. We love blue cheese, but the... star was the chutney that accompanied it. We are not sophisticated, so we rolled up the cheese in the provided lettuce and dang,it was good. We chose to split the rib eye (medium rare) and the salmon. Both were cooked to perfection. The rib eye was juicyand tender with all the delicious fat it should have. The salmon was on a bed of vegetables mixed with bacon and an avocadospread. Delicious is all I have to say. The knowledgeable waitress steered me in the right direction with the wine pairings.Everything was perfect. Price wise, this was very reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed The Port. Great food, reasonable prices. I made a reservation but you probably don't have to unless there... is some sort of major event occurring in Red Wing. Both our meals were delicious. Definitely ask about the fish of the day. Theyhave a bar there as well so drinks aren't limited to what is on the menu. Service was excellent. We were well taken care of, butour waitress was not intrusive. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Read more
