This is my favorite ramen I?ve tried in LA. The standard miso sesame broth is creamy and super flavorful without being too... salty. The egg noodles are thick and have a chew that I loved. I got the pork but the beef is also so delicious. The menudoesn?t flood you with options on the menu like most ramen places so you don?t get choice fatigue. The food's great, but the current staffing problems can make for a frustrating experience. We ordered food online. Not a huge... order, a couple of rolls and some edamame. Arrived about 20 minutes after ordering and to my chagrin the order was not ready. Ittook, at least, another 20 minutes for the order to come out of the kitchen. If you plan on dining here, in or take out, youmight want to have a backup plan. There's another Japanese restaurant in the village. Despite this place being an American owned sushi place, I will have to say that it was a amazing experience. (FYI I critiquing... my food with high expectations so just note that I just have high standard) The server and other runners took care of us andwere attentive while we were eating. The server also provided us with recommendations on the rolls. The short grain rice thatwas used was well-cooked and seasoned which complimented the fish. The bluefin samurai roll had a slight char and freshnesswhich made it 8.5/10. For the Kyoto Kryptonite roll, I have got to say that if you like the crispy tuna, then this is the rollto order because it pretty much tastes like it. 7.5/10. Crispy rice was pretty good, but I just prefer it to have less rice sothat I have more of the crunch than the mush from the rice. 6/10 The sushi was fresh and good with the rice. 9/10 Overall,everything was good and will return to try different rolls. Great sushi, fantastic service, unique dishes, and nice yet relaxed atmosphere- perfect for the beach. They have some very... unique rolls using fresh ingredients at reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly. This place does get busy though, but it isworth waiting or calling ahead. Read more

What an amazing local sushi spot! I highly recommend coming here. They get busy so I recommend using their wait in line function... so you don't need to wait for a long time. The sushi is fresh and high quality with some really yummy fusion items like theTruffle Salmon. They have a nice happy hour during the week until 6PM and different hours on the weekend (I forgot what theyare). Ignore the hype on Sugarfish and Katsuya, Japonica is where it's at. We went there this afternoon and had a nice sidewalk early dinner. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was good, but... we were expecting more based on the ratings and the price. I wasn't blown away by anything. That said, we enjoyed the Salmonskin salad, brussel sprouts and the chicken gyoza appetizers. We had three rolls. They were good and had a beautifulpresentation, but I wasn't amazed. They were just good. I think I was looking for something more special based on earlierreviews. Read more

Outstanding service. They had forgotten about our drinks, not only they apologized and explained the reason of why, also on the... house for a drink plus an appetizer.
