We came here for our 11 year old twins birthday. Birthdays here are a tradition for our family. Our reservations were for 7:00... with 7 people (5 adults, 2 birthday boys). We were sat promptly; however, it took until 7:45 for the chef to arrive at ourtable. The dinner was good, our chef is the only reason for above 1 star. When the ice cream was served we gave the waitress thecard to pay before we started eating, as it was getting late for the twins. 25 minutes after we were DONE with our ice cream wehad to hunt our card down. Our waitress had gone home without bringing it back. We did not get our of the restaurant untilalmost 9:45 with 2 kids. The lack of attentiveness was not related to the price pp at all. It's a Thursday so the place was pretty empty. We arrived and all seemed well. We were seated to the side of the center. We are... a group of 3, one of us was in the middle with two on the side. It's our anniversary and the first time taking our 8 year olddaughter. My daughter and I left to the restroom and when we returned we had been moved to the far side. We were facing the backof the chef, even past. My husband and i have never been to an Ichiban set up this way. For 55 dollars a plate plus drinks itjust didn't seem ideal. To add to it, the folks that were seated in the middle had already started demanding things and were atotal vibe kill. We left before drinks... sad to say. Love this place! Food is great. The chef was awesome

Very fun atmosphere, if you can ignore how LOUD it is. The food is excellent and the chef was great to watch, the main issue I... had was how smoky it got at the table. My eyes burned the whole time. They could at least have strong smoke eater vents over thegrills, ive eaten at other Japanese Steakhouses and never had an issue with how smoky it got. Read more

Pretty good dinner and show! Had some trouble with reservation stuff, just know what you want, and how many for certain. Eating... with 11 others was cool. A tad different than normal restaurants. Menus for meals are between 35 and 65 bucks plus tip. Read more

Dined in with my 2 kids and we had a good time. They don't do fire shows anymore due to not being able to install hood fans, but... our teppanyaki chef was entertaining and super funny, Rafael. He kept everyone at the table included and had jokes to gothroughout the dinner. The ambience was beautiful, Japanese style and the staff all dressed in kimonos, made it unique andexciting to experience. My Asian pear mojito was refreshing and clean, I would've ordered another but watching the alcoholintake. Lol. You can inform the chef if you want less sauce, etc. They're very aware of your orders. Servers were on topdespite being short staffed. Greeters at the front were friendly warm and welcoming. Even though we didn't get the fire showwe had a great time, I would come back again especially since the ambience was so fun and enjoyable. Rafael was definitely thehighlight of the dinner! We do an annual birthday dinner with my sister and I (6 days apart/9 years) with a small group of family and friends every year... at Ichiban's. We've been doing this for over 30 years and have seen this place move all up and down Virginia St over thedecades. Read reviews on their newest location and I was worried. I didn't need to. We had the best dang time on Thursdaynight! Our server, Francisco, was soooo skilled and entertaining and a pleasure to interact with. Our food was simply cooked toPerfection and absolutely delicious! A most enjoyable night to remember! Our only disappointment was 1) no more fire bomb, 2)no chicken liver appetizers (which haven't been a thing now for the last two locations), and 3) no tempura fried ice cream!Other than those few omissions it was a wonderful time and thank you for another great birthday memory! 5 stars for sure!
