Hot foods were hot and delicious! I usually order my favorites when out for sushi, and the quality of each item at New Zen,... seems a big step above. From miso soup and edamame, to vegetables tempura and sushi, each was a delight in itself. I highlyrecommend making New Zen your go to place for delicious food! Read more

It's a Saturday evening; just finished working as a vendor, at a sorority convention in downtown Bellevue. Headed to the... airport, and wanted to treat myself to a light meal, and sushi sounded great. Found New Zen on yelp, sounded good in thereviews, and hear I am. Straight up, this is some of the best Sushi I've had in many years. The owner is a lovely Japanesewoman, working here with her son, and I could not have asked for a better dining experience. Cozy little neighborhoodrestaurant; clean, roomy, lots of parking, and warm hospitality. Had the dragon tool, a crunch roll of some nature, and a unagiroll she suggested. Seriously, just ask her to make something that tastes good, and that's about all you need to do. Just enjoythe food. I will likely never get back here again, but if you are in the area, and sushi is on your mind, pay this place avisit, and tell her you read the review, from the guy in Kentucky, so she knows she made a memorable impression. Great customerservice, and equally matched food, should be acknowledged and appreciated. Enjoy; this place deserves the elusive 5th star. Read more

I wish I could have tried more from their menu! The katsu curry ???? was excellent, though. Portions were large, with the curry... having nice chunks of potato and carrots, which I especially liked. Some curries are basically just a puddle of brown sauce, this was golden, chunky, richly flavored. The katsu (panko coated pork cutlet) was juicy, crisp, perfectly cooked. Best Japanesecurry I?ve had in the U.S..Eating here is what I imagine having a Japanese Grandma is like, with three sweet ladies bringing youhomey deliciousness. My daughter had the Yakisoba, which looked excellent, and she loved. The Chirashi bowls and sushi looksuper yummy, unfortunately I?m visiting from Indiana, and am unlikely to make it back..you?d better go try some for me! Read more

Both the service and food are awesome. I had a long walk from my car to this place in a rain today, and she give me a hot towel... which was sweet. Food is authentic Japanese food. Absolutely love this place. Read more

I went a second time just to give it another chance. I don't rememeber what I ordered the first time, however this time around... definitely is the last time around. I ordered a Coke, veggie tempura, (appetizer) , and the Sukiyaki soup. Additionally I got amiso soup as a complimentary starter. The tempura was ok , but there could have been more dough. Also the dipping sauce lookedand tasted dead. Bland. In addition the Sukiyaki came out and it looked awful. The noodles alongside the side of rice was all Icould stomach. The meat was too dry. It seemed the sauce was a lazily concocted mix of soy sauce and sweet sauce. Cabbage, carrots, and tofu added to the blandness. Despite the crappy meal, I gave a tip. Never again. Not worth $30.00!!!! Below is thepicture of the lukewarm miso soup with the dirty spoon. Following that is the Sukiyaki soup. And the last dish has the drymeat, mushroom (Sukiyaki), and taro root? (veggie tempura) which I don't like. One of the most awkward lunches ever. Read more
