This is a great ?go-to? place right after a rough day. Neha Vijayananda makes the best Cocktails. SHE IS THE BEST!!!!! It's... located on the bottom floor of the Northside apartment complex next to the UTD campus. Northside Drafthouse is right across thestreet. The two bars make up a great place for UTD students to hang out. American Tap Room is hands down better in theatmosphere and service categories compared to Northside. The open airy space with cool grays and white tiles are wonderful,which is in direct contrast to the dingy run-down college bar look of Northside. Read more
"Forced" to go here since Northside Drafthouse was closed for an event. The staff was very kind in greeting us when we... initially walked in but lost interest in us the rest of the time we were there. We had to ask for silverware, napkins and all ofour order accoutrements to be brought to us. The staff was very nice when interacting with them but did not show anyattentiveness. Draft Beer selection is limited to 12 craft beers but all were decent beers. Food units ranged from awesome tososo. We ordered the brussel sprouts which were amazing. A huge basket of brussel sprouts comes out to your table with tons offlavor and bacon. The truffle fries were just average. Not much flavor to them but not bad either. We ordered wings but theguy from the kitchen came out and said he only had three bone-in wings and would boneless be okay. He offered to give us a fewextra wings so we agreed. He was very nice and apologetic. The garlic parmesan boneless wings were very salty. It tasted likethey use garlic salt and parmesan cheese for their flavoring. I hope in the future they would switch to a garlic powder or someother garlic base versus a salty garlic salt type coating. We did not receive any of the advertise ranch dressing or other sidesthat come with wings and had to ask for ranch dressing and the waitress brought out one despite having a big basket ofwings. Our experience was average at best. I noticed on the door that their hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday throughFriday and closed on the weekend. chicken wings were all very undercooked, chicken and waffles looked nothing like the picture, cold syrup, beer was 40% foam and... not even filled to the top. Overall terrible experience Read more
Was looking for someplace to grab a draft beer and sandwich for lunch - had never been here but a place called American Tap Room... sounded like the kinda place we were looking for. I even looked on Untapped to see local or craft beers they might currentlycarry but only saw the standard bud, Miller, and coors. Walked in and sat down to find they have nothing on tap, not even thestuff listed in Untapped. I can?t speak to the food because we got up and left - we felt pretty deceived after looking at thename, online menus, and untapped to find out they have no real beer. Guess the name American Tap Room is the same thing asnicknaming a giant guy ?tiny. Read more
Their happy hour and lunch special prices are incredible, and everything tastes fresh and housemade. After years of consuming... only the best burgers money could buy, I have finally found the perfect burger on the lunch special menu. I am genuinelyaddicted to the Taproom Burger, and this is no exaggeration. I would give ATR more stars if I could. I will eat a burger here asoften as my measly college freshman money can afford me. Please, visit ATR. Eat that burger. You will never eat anotherrestaurant's burger again. Shake Shack and its prices are garbage compared to this burger. Honestly, half the reason I'm notconsidering a transfer application to UT Austin is this perfect burger. God, I love ATR. This is a great ?go-to? place right after a rough day at the office or just want to catch up with colleagues. This place offers... great food at reasonable prices. I enjoy having a beer now and then at this particular place. The fried pickles are the best. Italso helps when the staff are super friendly! Read more
Last year the guy running the place was awesome. Whatever students they've hired this year are clearly not cut out for anything... outside a classroom. They never get your order right which sucks since the Taproom was the only legit burger place on campus.Also what's with the weird hours? A bar that closes at 4pm and isn't open on the weekends is just sad. Read more
