My wife and I decided to try The String Bean tonight, after searching Google for highly rated restaurants, and seeing that their... daily special was Taco Salad. We ordered takeout, calling in the order on the way there. My wife opted for the grilled tilapia.Immediately, I was impressed with the care and friendliness they expressed over the phone. Excellent customer service. Theinside of the restaurant feels very comfortable. While we waited on our food to be ready I commented "this is what Bennigan'sshould have been". The staff was just as friendly in person as they were on the phone. One waiter was coming out to sit down andeat his own food, but even he stopped to make sure we had been taken care of. Our food came out pretty quickly - about 15minutes after placing the order. The ticket stapled to the outside of the bag confirmed our order - Taco Salad, no olives, ranchand salsa on the side, Tilapia with steamed broccoli and corn, tarter sauce on the side. Once we got home, we realized my tacosalad had become some sort of pork roast with macaroni and cheese and corn. Big time bummer. If there could be an opposite of ataco salad, it would be this. I called back to the restaurant and they explained this was something another employee hadordered, that they were all wondering what happened to it. I suspect the extra taco salad was probably a clue as to whathappened to it. Being too far away to get there before closing, they initially offered to give me credit for a free meal on mynext visit. I accepted and thanked them, but then after speaking with the manager, they said they couldn't do that. Instead theysaid they will be crediting my card for the amount of the taco salad. My wife's tilapia looked and tasted delicious. Perfectlycooked, flake apart tilapia, with a nice char on the outside. The pork was sweet and it was all just very heavy. Good food. Appetizers were hot and tasty. A bit slow getting the main meals out. Not sure what was going on there but orders... were correct and meals were hot. Can't say enough good about the beef and mushroom soup. Sooo good. Desserts were delicious too.Will definitely be back. Read more

Visited The String Bean Restaurant for the first time last night and we had a wonderful dinner! Our waiter was fantastic, our... meals were prompt and hot, and the portions were ample. Mom thought the cole slaw needed a touch of vinegar but that was theonly thing that any of us wished was different. The banana pudding is superb!!! Food was really good prices good. Very slow. Didn't get to order til we were here thirty minutes already didn't get our food til... we were here a hour. Two hours til we got to pay and go. It's not even very busy in here to take so long. Will come back justcause of the food. Wish we had seen our waitress more. She didn't even hear our appetizer order so didn't get that til 45 minsin.
