I love the personal touch that you offer to all your guests. From welcoming letters to each guests, with our names specified...... to personal explanation and description about each dish served... to a pretty "Thank you" card to your diners, signed by yourteam, at the end of the meal. Also, I feel like I'm on a tour with a "tour guide", to explain to us what we see and eat. This isindeed a place worth coming if you want to express your love for the person you are with. Read more

Absolutely the best fine dining experience we’ve had in the lower mainland in the 15 years we’ve lived here. We did the... Taste of Baan Lao experience which came with 7+ courses. The food is phenomenal - local, nuanced, well plated and of courseabsolutely delicious. Many ingredients come from the chef’s personal garden and you can really enjoy the freshness. Greensalmon curry and phat Thai were the standouts. Service is impeccable, the servers and sommelier were attentive, friendly, explained each course on the menu with out the pretension of the typical white cloth restaurant. We tried both wine and teapairings, which we thought was good value to what was served. Chef Nutcha also came and paid a visit to each table to personalthank everyone for their patronage and to get feedback. We appreciate her gratitude and humbleness—given the recent Michelinstars were awarded in Vancouver, we won’t be surprised that this restaurant will be awarded this coveted prize in thefuture. We love the ambience as well, clean and white open concept with subtle Thai-inspired paintings and decor, it’s afantastic place to bring a first date or celebrate a life milestone. We are excited to come back and try their signature menuand thank everyone from Baan Lao for making my birthday celebration feel even more special. Khob kun kha ???????? Read more

Absolutely exquisite. The most innovative Thai restaurant in North America with modern Thai cuisine that is inspired by the... Michelin starred restaurants in Bangkok that Chef Nutcha trained in but with lots of personal touches as well. Every dish wasdelicious, and really elevated Thai staples like som tum, pad Thai and massaman curry while still keeping their essence. Theflavors are bold and delightful and the presentations are gorgeous. Service is excellent, attentive yet friendly andapproachable and very knowledgeable about all aspects of the cuisine. While it is one of the more expensive meals, it wasabsolutely worth it, I highly recommend it and look forward to dining there again. Read more

It was located in a nice area I wad not familiar with. The decor was nice. At the start the service was great. There were... only 3 tables. Unfortunately as it got busy, they completely forgot about us. The food was beautifully presented. The salmonseemed overdone. Maybe my expectations were just too high. I think calling some items a full course of the tasting menu wasgenerous. Read more

Came here with my wife for Valentine’s Day dinner and the food was great. Chef does a great job with her take on a number of... Thai classics - the pad Thai being the most visually appealing interpretation I have ever seen. All the ingredients are freshand food was rich in flavour. The only reason I did not give Baan Lao 5-stars is because I didn’t feel the service could keepup with the food. Yes, the servers introducing the food to us at the table were friend and super informative, but this wasinconsistent with other front of house staff. When we first arrived, we had an extremely confusing conversation with the serverasking us what we wanted to drink - regular water, or hot tea / thai iced tea. No indication was given for us to view the drinksmenu so we just assumed that this was part of the prepaid experience. We asked for thai iced teas and later found out this wasjust a regular drink order. Had we known we would’ve just made a cocktail order to start. The food also took a long time toarrive, which can be expected with a tasting menu, but we were rarely asked if we wanted another drink, and with Covid it is farless convenient to engage a staff member. Last point on the drinks, once you order them they take a LONG time to arrive. So allaround I don’t think Baan Lao is a bad experience. And if they can up their game on the front of house staff, this is an easy5-stars. Read more

We were here for our anniversary dinner and this was the best fine dining experience I have had in Vancouver. The chef with her... credentials was tremendously humble , and showed much gratitude for her patrons. Her service team offered a warm , attentiveand first class dining experience paired with authentic , bold flavours in a well thought out menu marked a very memorabledining experience. The wine and tea pairings added a fun, but approachable twist. Cheers to a female ethnic chef leading thecharge in fine dining in Vancouver, it was a first class experience and we wish this restaurant much success for years to come. Read more

Had a wonderful dinner at Baan Lao! The food was good, but it’s really the full experience that makes it truly unique. The... restaurant itself was warm and inviting—it was well-lit and had high ceilings so it felt very airy. Our two main servers werefriendly and attentive, and making sure we were liking everything along the way. The amuse bouche was brilliant! The way itwas presented and the flavours both worked well to set the tone for the rest of the meal. Every plate is meticulously presentedas expected from a fine dining restaurant. The colours, the textures, the aromas, and the tastes were all bright and on point. I also appreciate that they source high quality ingredients, focus on farm-to-table but elevated. I thoroughly enjoyed theprogression of the menu as well, and very importantly I was full at the end of the meal. The whole experience was like visitingan art gallery and the exhibition was about Thai flavours! Although very pricey for a meal, but I think it’s worthexperiencing. Would recommend for special occasions! Read more

Amazing food and attention to detail. Each dish and it’s ingredients were meticulously constructed, cut, and presented while... being so tasty and flavourful. This is the first time I’ve experienced Thai food this way. You can’t forget the service aswell, which was excellent and everyone was so welcoming. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Baan Lao to any family or friend! Read more
