I've been living in Richmond for several years and finally brought my family here for dinner. Our 5 year old loved the cheese... pizza, and he doesn't usually like new places and wants to come back soon. Definitely our new place for Pizza and Italian food.I tried the Godfather Pizza and it was so delicious and loved the fresh crust. Definitely every plate was made withcare. First time here, even though I live close by for years. Was Thursday evening and not too busy with no wait. We sat at the bar... area for the high tables/chairs. Our server was very friendly and efficient, helping sort through the menu. We started withBacon Wrapped Scallops and Tortellini in Brodo soup. The bacon scallops were very good with crispy bacon and the soup broth wasrich and not too salty. For mains we chose Alla Carbonara cream sauce with Penne pasta, and Mamma Mia Olive Oil sauce withLinguine. Both portions were quite large. The penne pasta was perfectly cooked and the carbonara cream sauce was very creamyand flavorful with generous amounts of italian bacon and parmesan. The Mama Mia had quite a decent amount of small seafoodbits, but the linguine pasta did seem a little undercooked. With just olive oil it was quite dry and also tasty definitely notas good as the Carbonara. To finish we had the Tiramisu for dessert. One small unexpected thing was the fact they closed at9pm, which I found a little surprising. We didn't know this going or would have gone earlier. While not rushed as a result wecouldn't take our time at the end to just relax and chat, and not enough time for a cappuccino. Wish they perhaps open an hourlater and stay open to 10p. This was a really great place to eat. From our table we could see the cooks cooking. The place was quite busy. The wait staff... was very friendly. Huge portions. I'd suggest the half portion if you aren't sharing. The whole is enough for 2-3 people. Though if you like leftovers, the whole portion is only a couple of bucks more, so that would be a good option. I love how youpick your pasta and then the sauce you want on it. They also have set dinners like chicken parm, lasagna, and others. If everI'm back in the area, I'm going to eat here again. I visited The Italian Tomato last week for the first time and it was very surprising. Even though the outside isn?t exciting,... the ambience, the staff and the food inside are mesmerizing! Our experience began with a very friendly and polite hostess thatasked us about our day and showed lots of care towards us. After presented the table our server was there shortly and made surewe had the menu figured out: you gotta choose the pasta and sauce you want, basically matching them. We decided to go with theFettucini Veneziana and the Lobster Ravioli, both AMAZING dishes. If you want leftovers go for the full portions because theyare ridiculously huge. As if he read our minds our server brought two to go containers knowing already we would need them, hewas very kind and attentive throughout the night. First time eating here for dinner. I always thought this place was just another place that focuses on quantity over quality but... I was wrong. The pasta actually not bad. Not much substance but the pasta was perfectly cooked. Nice firm, chewy texture. Theportion size justified the price. Recommend to anyone who loves pasta! Read more

Great service and vibe, the portion of pasta is HUGE, so highly recommend to order one and share it with one or two ppl, the... taste was great! The pasta we got was Mama Mia and Marco Polo, both great, but I personally like Marco Polo more. Marco Polo isa pink/orange sauce, which is the mix of tomato sauce and cream sauce, and it has a slightly spiciness in it, so it makes theflavor more rich. The restaurant is quite big, even though we didn?t make a reservation, the wait time was still only 5-10mins,the host and server was very friendly, we had a really great time at Italian Tomato! Great atmosphere, reasonable pricing, fantastic service. The food has always been amazing, right amount of seasoning, pasta... is al dente, tomato sauces can stick on the noodle perfectly. Thin crust pizza is crispy, the dough's flavour is great.
