Midlothian Chef's Kitchen has quickly become one of my favorite places to go when friends and family are visiting. The food is... divine and the cocktails delicious. The atmosphere and service is equally wonderful. From the filet mignon to the grapefruitcream chicken breast, you can't go wrong! The dumplings have been my least favorite dessert but even then they are better thanother dumplings I've had. The peach and burrata salad is bright and light, the homemade butter for your bread melts in yourmouth, the tuna tartare is surprising and has a great texture! Read more

Went here recently for a date night. It was a mixed bag, but generally positive. Our waiter brought out some bread, which was... delicious. The butter was very sweet. The menu said an additional serving would be $3, but we ordered it anyway. For ourappetizer, we had the pork belly and the pork & shrimp dumplings. The pork belly was fried, which was a first for me. Also therewas no fat on it, so it was slightly drier than what I expected. The flavor of the meat was good, but muted, however, the friedbroccoli and the green sauce accompanying it helped to make up for it. I also enjoyed the dumplings, particularly the broth theywere in (my date thought the dumplings were a little doughy). For entrees, we ordered the pecan crusted pork ribs and the"award winning" filet mignon. The ribs were very tender, but could've used a little bit more seasoning. It came with aginger-peach BBQ sauce, which I found tasty. The fried potato salad was basically a large tater tot and not what you wouldtypically think of when you talk about potato salad. Our waiter recommended the filet mignon medium rare, I ordered it medium.Works well for steaks, but the filet seemed drier than I expected. It was very tender, so tender I could cut it with a fork. However, the texture was more like a finely ground beef than steak, which was weird. Taste-wise, it was under-seasoned anddidn't come with any topping other than some truffles. The vegetables that came with it were well cooked and flavorful, so Ijust ate them along with the filet. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and our waiter was attentive. On a sidenote, the pork belly arrived at our table with a piece of hair in it. The waiter immediately apologized and got us a new one. Hetook the pork belly off of the bill and also did not charge us for the extra serving of bread. Read more

This place is amazing. I’ll get to why I marked four stars and not five but know that I will be back and if you haven’t been... here, you need to come. The food was all perfect, the cocktail was top tier, and clearly they make their own butter. Sogood! They had several fish specials so my first impression of this place was walking in and getting slapped with the smell offish. That and being sat in front of the kitchen thruway lessened my experience here but both of those I imagine will bedifferent next time. Read more

This is truly one of a kind restaurant. You will not find the same dishes anywhere else. Chef Dunlap is extremely talented, his... creativity transpired on each plate and in every bite. Everything was prepared with carefully picked fresh ingredients and manyfresh local produce. They also has a good selection of wine and cocktails. Wonderful service. MCK is my new favoriterestaurant. If you are looking for an inexpensive traditional meal, this is not the place. If you are looking for an uniquedining experience, I highly recommend Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen. Read more

Impromptu Sunday Brunch with our local friends- 2 of us had the fried chicken sandwich ( unbelievable and HUGE), one had soft... shell crab sandwich which he loved, and one avocado toast that was so good we thought she’d lick the bowl.???? We spoke to theowners at length about their beautiful and unique steel and stone planters. The space is beautifully decorated with a calm andelegant vibe. We will absolutely return for dinner soon! (Edited) Our waitress, Sophie, was friendly and attentive as well! Read more

Hidden gem in Midlo! I’d say this dining experience was comparable to some Michelin restaurants I’ve been to in DC - great... cocktails, creative dishes, and interesting flavors with a nice intimate atmosphere. The menu we looked at online beforehand wasslightly different than the one in the restaurant (I think it changes regularly), so just keep that in mind and be open totrying new dishes - you won’t be disappointed! It was my first time eating here. The food and festive drink were wonderful. The waitress did an awesome job. I had the French... Toast with blueberry compote with a Poinsettia Mimosa. The hostess wasn't very welcoming. There was live entertainment which wasa plus. Read more

Overall great experience. One of the best places in the area. Service- excellent, server was knowledgeable about the food, the... restaurant and the bar. He was very friendly and helpful throughout the night. He made it a good time. Food- absolutelyfantastic. Loved the sage pappardelle. We ordered it for the table. For appetizer I would recommend both the roasted chestnutsoup and the burrata. The bread was also very tasty. For dinner I thought the beef tenderloin with a mushroom sauce and a greatside of cauliflower. Dessert was more of the savory side but very good as well. Drinks - the bartender John Mayer was amazing. The jalapeño Paloma was perfect. He’s a magician. Setting / vibe - great for a date or hanging with a few friends. I’d saydress up a little. Nothing less than a polo for guys or jeans and a nice shirt is about right. Fairly quiet, goodsetting. Overall I’d say it’s bring an A game to the area and the city. While it can be a little pricy, I think the qualityis worth it. I’ll be going back! Read more
