Where do i start!!! The food was AMAZING the staff was extremely friendly. I ordered fried catfish. Hearing me talk about my... diet they offered to grill it instead of fried!!! This is my second visit to this establishment. The first time, the food was actually pretty decent. It came within a timely... manner and the food tasted okay. Today, I visited for the second time and it was a complete 180. The food was mediocre, theywere out of condiments, and the wait time was outrageous. The staff seemed discombobulated and were all over the place. We went20 minutes at a time without being seen by a waitress. The yams & fries are good. But, today, we had hard substances in our yamswhich could not be explained by the staff. And no, it was not sugar. One of my friends that was with me did not like her friedchicken. When explained to the waitress, she didn?t seem to care, and asked ?can you describe what you didn?t like?. I?m notsure about y?all, but when I don?t like something..I just don?t like it lmao. I moved to the RVA from the Dirty South almost a year ago and cooking soul food is in my blood. I've tried several of the areas... soul food restaurants & found them all to be overpriced and the flavor underwhelming. Shrimp's was delicious! Everything wasperfectly seasoned and fairly priced. Absolutely delicious! I got one of the basket with fish shrimp crab balls and chicken my goodness! Collards and fries were good... too! I spent over $40. More like $20 for each time I eat because it's too much to eat in one setting. Read more
