We’re in the Richmond area for the weekend and this place popped up as a recommended restaurant for dinner! The ambiance was... perfect for a date night. The restaurant is huge and they got plenty of tables but there were still people waiting to be seatedwhen we left! The food came out fast and it was good! The drinks were also good! Overall, the service was good and quick! Read more

Having never been to The Boathouse before, I didn't know what to expect, but it had come highly recommended so during a visit to... Richmond, my two friends and I decided to try it. I made the reservation for 1:30 as we drove into town, and we were greetedpleasantly and promptly when we arrived. We were fortunate to visit on a beautiful day which meant we could eat outside on thepatio. All the umbrella tables were taken, but they were very accommodating and allowed us to sit in the shady outdoor bar areawhich was technically not open yet. The service was excellent with our server giving good information in response to ourquestions about certain dishes. I ordered the jalapeno hush puppies for an appetizer, and for my entrée, I ordered the musselsand a Caesar salad. I was somewhat concerned about the spiciness of the hush puppies, but ordered them on the assurance by ourserver that they were only mildly spicy...she was correct! The martini I ordered (Beefeaters Gin with a lemon twist) wasperfectly made, and our water glasses were filled regularly. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but everything was absolutely perfectand worth it for a splurge lunch. I am so glad we decided to eat at The Boathouse and would definitely go again! Read more

I had been meaning to go here when I lived in Virginia, but never made the time for it. I'm glad that I got to come here while I... was visiting on business. This restaurant is perfectly built to take in an amazing view of Richmond and the James River. Thefood and service were outstanding. My burger was cooked to perfection, and the coleslaw and brussel sprouts were phenomenal.I'll be sure to come back to The Boathouse whether I'm traveling to Richmond on business or for pleasure. Ugh I wanted so bad to like this so called upscale restaurant. Upon entering it looked and sounded like a bustling cafeteria... with booths. It was way too loud, too crowded for the amount of staff to handle in my positive opinion and the seafood disheswere ruined by an over abundance of salt. We tried our best to choke down our 300 + dollar meals and gracefully told the verynice gentleman that asked, "we were fine". We all know NOT to send your food back at a restaurant. The AC vent was above us andall of us froze. I inadvertently gave an extra 15% tip on top of the 20% tip that is automatically added to your total becausewe were in such a hurry to exit. My beer oyster shooter was great and so were my oysters. The presentation of the food wasamazing, too bad the taste did not coordinate. Read more

Was suggested to visit this establishment. The theory was great, the execution completely missed. Besides the 20% mandatory... service charge, the food we ordered lacked. My salmon was overcooked. The crab cakes had actual crab shell in them and theasparagus was not prepared properly. I would say this is a sous chef issue, however it is head chef responsibility to ensure thedelivery is correct. Honestly I feel the prices are ok, and the server was friendly. But I will not attempt to revisit thisestablishment. Read more

This place is amazing! Came here during the brunch hours so it was buffet style. The service was great. Our host made sure we... were good, received our drinks and had a good banter. The food was A1- the shrimp and grits were my favorite along with thesalmon. I even went back for a second plate. If it warm outside, I’d recommend sitting outside to get a great view of the cityand the river. Will be back. Read more

Pros: the view is amazing, it's near the river. I sat at a table that had my back turned, but took a few minutes to go on the... balcony before leaving. Very nice view. MOST of food that we ordered tasted great. The drinks were good and although it wasbusy, other servers didn't mind helping us out when our server was unavailable. Water was free! Cons: We had to place our ownorders by phone with QR code and we misunderstood that we were NOT supposed place the whole order at the same time (drinks, appetizers, entrées). There really was no service provided beyond "thanks for coming" and the directions that weren't reallyclear. The children's Mac and cheese had no flavor and my daughter wouldn't eat it, but I completely understood cause I tastedit. Very bland and that plus fries was $8. You have to pay for ALL drink refills so I didn't get another lemonade .... thefirst was mostly ice anyway. I didn't make a complaint out of it. Just simply said nevermind. Overall, I came with some lovelyfamily members and getting to see and chat with them over a meal was wonderful. But I wouldn't care to come back. I've been toother restaurants with great views they offer free refills and the children's food taste better. It's nice to be in a placewhere the staff greets you and checks in on you. This definitely wasn't the place. Again, I wouldn't care to come back, but Iwouldn't discourage someone else from giving this place a try. I'd recommend the shrimp tacos with avocado. Those were yummy! Read more

Richard was a stellar server in every way imaginable. I haven't been to your lovely restaurant since the pandemic and Richard... made learning the new ordering fun and easy! The food was phenomenal as well as the view but that's always the case. I reallyenjoyed my visit and so glad I decided to bring my neice to show her what the best of Richmond has to offer. Read more
