It’s been awhile since I’ve been here. But you can never go wrong with anything here. I ordered the: Lobster Dip She crab... soup Crab cakes with potatoes & spinach. Key lime was great! We are from out of town. We did a last minute weekend visit to Richmond and we were looking for Oysters place. We ended up here... and we really had a good experience. We sat by the bar, loved the vibe, staff were friendly and efficient. Our bartender wassuper helpful with all the things to do in the area. This restaurant is really nice and has such a good vibe. I love The Hard Shell. Great place for good, fresh seafood and ambiance downtown in Shockoe! Our food and service were awesome.... I usually get the raw oyster sampling - highly recommend, but I was the only one of my gal pals who enjoys raw oysters thistime. We came across this place accidentally even though it's been in business for many years. Everything was perfect from start to... finish. We started with calamari and then my husband had the Angus burger and I had the fish tacos (served with a delicious andfresh side salad). We will come back soon and often! Read more

Love, love, love! Went here in the evening time in late October, so the weather was a bit chilly, but nonetheless it was a... nice evening so we decided to sit outdoors to eat. They have great heat lamps under their umbrellas, which made our diningexperience more comfortable. Our food was great and our server (Zach I believe) was awesome! Will definitely visit again! Cute and romantic little space, I loved it here. Our server was attentive and friendly. Street parking and a parking garage... nearby. We ordered crab cakes, Scallops and the she crab soup to start off with. The Scallops were cooked well and had a ton offlavor. Crab cakes were more like little patties but still very flavorful and I liked the house tartar sauce they made. The soupwas really good as well but not too much crab meat inside. I ordered the Hard Shell Pasta and my boyfriend ordered theOven-Roasted Rockfish. My pasta came with plenty of seafood and the tomato basil marinara was delicious. The rockfish was verywell cooked and had a great sear. I ordered a glass of the Seven Falls Cabernet and he ordered the Apricot Old Fashioned andlater the Blackberry Bramble. The old fashioned was a little different than your standard old fashioned, not as strong and thereseemed to be something missing in flavor.
