Good services but foods were too salty especially the fired squids and the hot sauce. The soft shell crabs fired rice color was... not mixed evenly, tasted was ok. I usually go to their Scarborough location and gave this Richmond Hill location a visit. The food here isn't that good and the... service is aggressive and they are obviously understaffed. Servers yell at each other and also at patrons waiting inline. they're quite busy and the table we got was cramped so that servers kept asking patrons to move so they could slidethrough between tables. we were also told to write our own order down and it was difficult to flag down our server. our ordermust've gotten lost along the way too because tables around us that had put in their orders afer ours were all served before us.we ended up waiting ~35 minutes for our first dish. Pepper salt pork chop - was dry and lacked a baking soda or egg in themarinade to deal with the dryness of a lean cut of pork. also lacked seasoning like salt and spice and seemed to throw dicedonions and bell peppers on top. Tofu grouper casserole - pretty good flavours and uses real grouper. a good amount of fish butonly had like 4 pieces of tofu. **update on 12th Sept 2022 Revisited on last Wed 7th Sept around 4pm. No line up and plenty of tables. Perfect afternoon tea... spot for family. They offer variety of noodles and rice combos. The afternoon tea combo comes with tea, coffee, cold bubble milktea and red bean drink w ice cream. Extra $3, you can add a side dish with 2 lamb skewers, deep fried tofu, cucumber salad &many more. Excellent customer service. Our server - Cindy was very welcoming and courteous. She checked on us few times to makesure we had enough tea/water and our food were served. Food was great as always. August 26 2022 edit: Placed an one-dish take-out order on Google Maps half an hour before arrival. However, to my surprise, the... order was nowhere close to finishing. I understand that tables were pretty full and everyone was busy. What triggered me wasthe attitute of the reception lady. Instead of explaining the situation on why my order was not finished or why it was missedall entirely, she lied to my face and blaming me of "not ordering ahead" I mean, come on, really? I have heard about thisestablishment for a long time yet never find a good time to visit it. Finally, here we are. The taste of the food is top notch,the ingredients are fresh. We had our fathers day dinner here. Didnt have the freatest table as we were seated in the room at the front which is a big... rectangle table(we had to pass dishes around as opposed to havinng a lazy susan). Food was what youd expect of comparing tocongee wong style restaurants. Good quality, decent portions. Bbq and roast pork were delicious. Mr. Congee meets the standards of Chinese cuisine in Richmond Hill, a heavily populated Asian community. My family and I came... here on a Wednesday night and restaurant was at 50% capacity. Food was great except I found the fried squid to be a little onthe saltier side. The hostess also seated us close to the exit so when someone left the restaurant, my family and I could feelthe cold air hitting our skin. This is my family?s go-to place for Chinese. We tried many times and the food here consistently great. We love their sautéed... deep fried lobster and crab(preferred crab) ,beef dish covered with deep fried flour(can?t remember the name), and turnips withshrimp were good too!!
