Update: Changed rating from four stars to three. I ordered the same thing as my previous review - great crunch, evenly spread... out toppings. Sadly the other reviewer was correct - they changed their crust recipe and possibly the marinara sauce. It's likehaving pizza with a head cold. The addictive element is gone. Not sure why you'd mess with a recipe 25+ years old? PreviousReview: They started up in Chico and lucky for us they brought it down here to feed your face. Great pizza by the slice -crunchy crust and tasty toppings. If they have the "Godfather" out for pizza by the slice - grab one! The "Tom Jones" and the"White" pizzas are my usual choice. Being from NY, I tried the pizza recently and it was great, like NY pizza. Went in yesterday and the pizza was terrible:... terrible crust, very little sauce and skimpy toppings compared to initial visit. I called and spoke to manager and he told me itwas my problem. H e admitted that they recently CHANGED their recipe and reduced the toppings and sauce, etc. So it isn't me,but he didn't care what I thought of the change. Last time for me. I got three pizza to try out: white sauce pizza, Hawaiian pizza, and mushroom pizza. The white sauce pizza and Hawaiian pizza... had a good crunch due to its thin crust, each bite the texture carrys. The mushroom pizza was a bit soggy, wasn't crunchy as theothers but it was less oily than the other two with a strong mushroom and Italian seasoning flavor. The white sauce had a stronggarlic taste with Italian seasoning, and the cheese on top of it helped mellow it down. Great pizza place. Plenty of room inside and a patio. Staff was very friendly and inside was very clean. I dont know the whole... menu but I walked in, they had some ready made pies (buy by the slice) with descriptions. Bought me few slices and even addedsome ingredients..they threw them bad boys back in the oven and few minutes later I was eating some great pizza!! I had a sliceof Tom Jones (pepperoni, sausage n Canadian bacon) I also had a slice of Mushroom and added some pepperoni...AND IT WASAWSOME!! I could've eating the mushroom itself again...so good. As a native New Yorker, I know what NY pizza is. Celestinos filled every expectation...thin crust..great taste..LIKE HOME... ..UNTIL last two visits. It tastes different...crust way too thick..blah taste...not enough cheese and not greasy, (like NYpizza SHOULD be). What a letdown. Read more
