The waitress was great and honestly the saving grace of this place as the food made me sick the next day. It was very saucy but... the sauce tasted like 'Cream of Cheese' and was NOT great. My date felt that way as well and he manages a restaurant. It wasdark on the outside so we weren't even sure it was open at first. So that could be problematic and dangerous. Read more

I have been searching for 40+ years for an Italian restaurant which has 'linguini and clams' dish which is as good as the Clam... House in San Francisco. Rubino's easily topped it. The best I have ever had. Read more

Went for a birthday dinner with my wife and family (8 people total). The food was subpar, the ambiance was dated, but worst of... all was the service, the waiter was terrible, we where there for over an hour before he took our order, not once did he fill ourwaters back up, my wife ordered a glass of wine and it took an additional 30 minutes to receive that, by the time we got ourfood, we had been sitting down for 2 and a half hours, the waiter never offered anything like fresh pepper, cheese, or ask us ifthere was anything else we needed or wanted, if we wanted anything like pepper or cheese or sauces we had to put a hand up toask, because for a over 3 hour dinner experience we saw our waiter maybe 4 times, he never checked on us or asked how everythingwas, only came over to us when we raised a hand to get his attention. On top of the terrible service it was really expensive forfood that was less tasteful than a corporate run italian place like olivgarden or similar, we payed close to $300 for thisterrible experience, we wanted to split the check because people that came where going to pay for them selves but the waiterknew that because we had more than 6 people he was guaranteed a tip and if he split the check he wasn't, I don't mind tippingfor good service in fact I think its rude not to tip, however this service was so bad I've had better waiting staff at fastfood, and we had to tip this inattentive and rude waiter over $52 for him doing nothing, I will never eat here again it was myfirst and last time ever going to rubinos, I do not recommend at all I wish I could give 0 stars, there are much better placesfor Italian food in the area and go anywhere else and I can almost guarantee you much better service. Rubino?s restaurant is a great Italian fresco dine in gem within Sacramento area & nearby freeway accessibility where locals... there takes time to drive and visit. Very fun fare generous on servings of sourdough breads with dipping sauce of marinatedherbs balsamic with olive oil. Enjoyed appetizer soft calamari but crunchy crumbs. We ordered grilled salmon & chicken breastsmain dish with amazing full cup servings of risotto rice with options between soups & fresh veggies on the sides. Impressivequality from scratch white clam chowder and not salty. A must place to visit & return visit with satisfying ambience, qualityfoods and receptive service. ???????????? Read more

We have checked out a lot of ?Italian? places in the area and are trying to find the best one. We had high hopes for Rubinos but... the food was a bit of a miss. The good: Great ambiance, and the staff is well dressed and the tables look formal. The foodcame out quickly and our waitress was very fun. The clam chowder was delicious and had a good clam to chowder ratio. The cosmowas well mixed. And the Italian soda was good and had the right flavor. The bread came out fresh and warm and the oil andvinegar tasted light and fresh. The presentation was also lovely, The seafood feta had a good amount of seafood and was verygood. The oysters were perfect and the shrimp were cooked just right. The bad: We ordered a dish with risotto and expectedrisotto for the price. When the dish came out it was a lump of rice pilaf instead. Very disappointed. The veal came out toughwhich is the opposite of what veal should be. The whole point is that you want tender meat. It?s almost like it wasn?t veal atall. The minestrone was unlike any we have ever had. Minestrone is a vegetable soup, that tends to be lighter but what we wereserved was thick like pea soup. The sole fish we were served lacked flavor. I get that sole is a white fish and lighter inflavor but the fish was just so bland and disappointing. On the opposite end of the spectrum the salad we ordered wentoverboard on the vinegar. Just too sour to eat. Lastly the parking is limited and fills up fast. I feel like (as a trainedchef) that the biggest problems of our dinner came from the kitchen and somebody who doesn?t really know what they are doing, especially in regards to Italian food. Example, meat should be rare and tender not tough, spice your fish, take the time toactually make the risotto (if you can), and don?t just pour gigantic amounts of vinegarette on the salad. Sadly we had highhopes but we won?t be back as we have discovered better Italian restaurants who know what they are doing. We paid to Read more

Decent Italian. Interior is nice and staff is incredible. I came her awhile ago a d wasnt impressed nor was my company but I... gave it a 2nd chance to overwhelm me..didnt. First thing first..breaded chicken in Chicken piccata or Chicken Alfredo is notme..at all..piccata does have slight use of panco but this felt more like kids chicken fingers Food is ok but it really givesoff a "not trying hard" or "been serving same thing for years" taste. Potatoe Tomatoe tho right..everyones got anopinion. Obviously we've all been somewhere better but I've been here twice and don't really have a reason for a 3rd. Rememberon The Sopranos when Tony tells Artie that Vesuvios menu needed a revamp..same here Read more
